UMBC to Host Commencement Ceremonies Over Next Four Weeks
Parking to be Affected Around the Campus
The Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena will host commencement ceremonies for a variety of institutions, including UMBC, over the next four weeks.
Graduation ceremonies will bring additional visitors to the campus and this will bring a greater demand for spaces around the arena. Please plan to arrive to work a little early in case your normal lot is not available.
Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for:
May 18, 19, 24, 25, 26
June 2, 7, 9

Bike to Work Day is Back May 19
Registration is Now Open
Parking Services will be hosting our second annual Bike to Work Pit-Stop on Friday, May 19. The pit stop will be at OCA Mocha (5410 East Drive in Arbutus) and run from 7 AM to 9 AM.
Bike to Work Day is a great way to help the environment. Leave the car in the driveway and get some fresh air.
At the Pit Stop, we will have a representative from The Cycle Mill. They will be happy to give your bike a quick inspection and point out any areas of concern. The Pit Stop will also be the place to pick up your t-shirt. While at the Pit Stop you can learn more about biking to work and other activities you can do to help the environment. You can also reward yourself with any of the many great items at OCA Mocha.

Take the Time to Register Your Bicycle with Parking Services
Registering Your Bike Helps the Police in Case of Theft
As the weather continues to improve, many students will be
bringing their bikes to campus. What is the first thing you should do when
bringing your bike to campus? Register it with Parking Services.
When you register your bike with Parking Services, you are
also registering your bike with the UMBC Police Department. Why should you
register your bike? In the unfortunate event that your bike is stolen, the
chances of getting your bike back safely goes up when you register it. Police
have all the information they need to protect your bike and to ensure it is not
resold.
Students registering their bikes with Parking Services will also receive a bike lock if they need one. This lock can be the difference between your bike
remaining safe or not. Why take the chance?
You may register your bike with Parking Services Monday thru
Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Simply complete and return the form to Parking Service and
stop by the office to pick up your UMBC sticker and a lock, if needed.
One last reminder, at the end of the semester, please do not
forget to take your bicycles home. Unfortunately, UMBC cannot store your bike
over the summer.

Food for Fines is Back
Parking Services Teams up with Retriever Essentials
Retriever Essentials and Parking Services are working together once again for our 2nd Food for Fines campaign. What is Food for Fines? A program created to collect food and toiletries for UMBC students facing food insecurity.
The program runs from April 3-14 with a goal of helping as many students as possible. Simply bring in five or more items from the most needed items list (attached) and we will reduce one active citation to a warning (the citation must be $40 or less). Previously paid citations are not eligible.
All donations must be made at the Parking Services offices from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday thru Friday, by April 14. Don't have any citations? We are happy to accept any and all donations. We just ask that your items be unopened and non-expired.

Parking Services Announces Spring Break Enforcement Policy
Standard Enforcement Wednesday to Friday
Spring break is upon us. Students will be off campus the week of March 20-24. Staff will return to work on Wednesday. As a result, many people ask, what is the policy for parking during spring break week?
There are two answers to this question. First, we will not be enforcing permits or pay to park lots on Monday and Tuesday. Please note, UMBC Police will be enforcing standard traffic regulations and posted signs both days.
Wednesday through Friday will be standard enforcement days. What does this mean? We will be enforcing permitted zones. Visitors will also be required to pay to park. We will also be enforcing all posted signs and standard traffic regulations.

Limited Availability at Upper Admin Garage This Friday
Accessible Parking Spaces will be Unaffected
The Annual Spring Career and Intern Fair will be held this Friday (Feb. 17) at the Retriever Activity Center (RAC). Due to the size of this event, parking will be limited on the top level of the Administration Garage. The lower portion (Gated) will be unaffected by this event.
Additionally, accessible parking will remain open for those who need to utilize these spaces. If you have questions regarding this event or any parking issue, please e-mail Parking Services at
parking@umbc.edu or 410-455-2551.
The top level of the Administration Garage will be closed on Monday, February 13 and Tuesday, February 14 due to a special event. The gated lower level at the Administration Garage will be unaffected by this closure.
Please note, accessible parking on the top level of the garage will be unaffected by the event and will remain available. If you have any questions about this or anything else parking related, please call 410-455-2551 or via email at

Have you ever wasted time circling around a parking lot looking for a spot on campus? UMBC Parking Services is excited to introduce Perch Parking. Perch Parking was created by UMBC alumni, who understand the challenges of finding parking on campus during peak times.
Perch Parking, currently utilized in Lot 3,is a cutting-edge parking detection system that uses AI and cameras to provide real-time information on available parking spots. The innovative system uses cameras mounted on strategic light poles to monitor the parking lot, allowing the AI to update a 3D map in real-time. All you need to do is download the Perch Parking app from the Apple App Store (Android version coming soon) and you'll have a miniature live model of the parking lot in the palm of your hand.
This service is still in its early stages. By participating in the open beta, you can help to fine-tune the app. This also could lead to the expansion of the system into more lots on campus.
Join us today in the open beta testing of the Perch Parking app. Your feedback will be invaluable in our quest to help make the parking experience at UMBC a smoother one.
