Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: 3 years.
Q: What is your current title (job or student organization position)?
A: Service Peer and Relay for Life: Event Chair.
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: Empowering people to help other people and themselves.
Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?
A: I love working with so many driven and passionate people on campus. In my position I work with so many great leaders, and it is amazing to me the potential each and every person posses. I work with people from all over the campus, from SGA executive board members to random students who just want to get involved, and it is inspiring to me to know who they are and what they have accomplished.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: The relationships with other people you establish, and hold throughout your life can be more important than your job, the knowledge you carry, and the money you make. You can learn so much from the relationships you have throughout your life, they can be a safety valve when times are tough, and they can be a voice of reason when you are struggling to cope with life. Relationships, whether they be friends, family, co-workers, etc., can also provide you with a lot of happiness and fun!

A: Sports and Listening to people.
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
If you want to succeed in life, if you want to be a great doctor, lawyer, even a great person, then I would recommend that you get involved. You will learn so much more from interacting with other people and the real world, then from any textbook.
Get Involved! -- Just visit the Student Government Office, the Student Events Board, or the Student Involvement Center. Tell them you want to help and they will be more than glad to set you up with an amazing opportunity. And you know what, they are all located on the Second Floor of the Commons.

Name: Donique Lewis
Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland
Q: How long have you been at UMBC?
A: I have been at UMBC since November of 2004.
Q:What is your current title (job or student organization position)?
A:I’m currently holding the position of Executive Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Q: In 12 words or less, what role(s) do you play on campus?
A: My role is to provide executive level support to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and to work with our student assistants.
Q: What aspect of your UMBC role(s) do you enjoy most?
A: I really enjoy the opportunities for personal/professional growth afforded you in this division. If there’s something you’re interested in, all you have to do is ask. I’ve recently expressed my desire to work more with the budget in my area, and without hesitation I was given a much larger role.
Q: What is the most important or memorable thing you learned in college/have learned at UMBC?
A: I have learned how important it is to make your presence known and not fade into the background. Many opportunities may come your way, just by letting others get to know you.
Q: Complete this sentence: "I am a big fan of __________"
A: Football “GO RAVENS”
Q: Do you have any UMBC stories, little-known facts about UMBC, favorite spots on campus, or anything else you’d like to share?
A: The “Red Flag Campaign." I have really enjoyed participating with this event and being able to bring more awareness to the warning signs of relationship violence. It’s my hope that at least one student may be helped by this campaign.

Full Title: Database Trial: American Antiquarian (AAS) Historical Periodicals Collections - ends 12/24/2010UMBC now has trial access to the three AAS Historical Periodicals collections through Dec.24.
EBSCO has partnered with the American Antiquarian Society (AAS) to provide digital access to American periodicals published between 1691 and 1877. In total, more than 6,500 periodicals will be available, eclipsing all other online resources in this area. The collection is divided into three series:
Series 1 presents over 500 titles dating from 1691 through 1820.
On campus direct access: Series1
Series 2 presents over 1,000 titles dating from 1821 through 1837.
On campus direct access: Series 2
Series 3 presents over 1,800 titles dating from 1838 through 1852.
On campus direct access: Series 3
The databases can also be accessed through the EbscoHost platform. Access any Ebsco database, click on "Choose Databases." The three AAS databases are at the end of the list and may be searched individually or in combination.
