commonvision is looking for Graphic Designers to join our team!
Undergraduate UMBC students are preferred for this position.
commonvision is UMBC's Student Design and Print Center, located in The Commons, Room 309. We are a full service print shop as well as a design and animation studio. Our Graphic Designers are responsible for on-campus advertisements, design for digital environments (social media and file creation for motion graphics), print design, and more! A great job for hands on, creative students who want to learn more about graphic design, print, and promotions.
We’re looking for students who are comfortable working in:
- Illustrator CC+
- Photoshop CC+
- InDesign CC+
Bonus Points If:
- You have experience in pre- and post-production print, or any other kind of printing skills
- You have interest or experience with animation/motion design
- You can get super nerdy about typography
- You have an interest or experience in photography
Your personality is along the lines of:
- Self-motivated
- Team-oriented
- Attentive to details
- Manages time and deadlines well
- You love design too much
Non-negotiables:
- Be highly dedicated & organized
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Must pass a judicial and OEI check
- Must have at least 2 on-campus semesters left
- Must be able to work at least 15 hours a week
- Be an undergraduate student

First Friday of every month is free t-shirt friday!
First come, first serve. Limited to the first 40 people, one shirt per person. There will be 10 of each size (S-XL), while supplies last.

Leadership Blueprint is a program led by Leadership Peer Facilitators that helps first year, first generation and all undergraduate students looking to learn how to craft a more fulfilling college experience by sharing practical design thinking tools and ideas, while relating them back to their leadership and involvement plans for UMBC.
Topics include exploring your interests, finding your place at UMBC, designing plans for your leadership and involvement experience, and much more. This seminar incorporates small group discussion, activities, guest speakers, and personal reflection.
There are three different cohort times to choose from:
- Retriever Cohort ; designed for first years
- Mondays 12pm - 1:30pm
- Oct 16th, Oct 23rd, Oct 30th, Nov 6th, Nov 13th
- Commons 329
- Chip Cohort ; designed for all students
- Mondays 3pm - 4:30pm
- Oct 16th, Oct 23rd, Oct 30th, Nov 6th, Nov 13th
- Commons 331
- True Grit Cohort ; designed for first gen
- Tuesdays 2pm - 3:30pm
- Oct 17th, Oct 24th, Oct 31st, Nov 7th, Nov 14th
