Involvement Fest Prints

ATTENTION UMBC student organizations! 


Involvement Fest is quickly approaching. commonvision (UMBC Design and Print Center) is here to help with your Involvement Fest prints! 


Please note at this time, we can offer flyers and quartercards for Involvement Fest. Other services will have a turnaround time that extends beyond Involvement Fest. 


For best consideration, please submit your flyers and quartercards by 5 p.m. Monday, February 5 via commonvision@umbc.edu. Any clubs using carryover funds will need to provide us with a completed RESGAF before printing will begin. Please note outside of chartstrings/club funds we only accept retriever dollars on your campus card.


Something to consider is printing a couple flyers that stay at your table that contain a QR code to your organization's myUMBC group. This may help us to cut down on printing demand and make sure that even if you run out of materials, you still have something people can scan.

UMBC (and commonvision) is closed Monday, September 4 for Labor Day. This gives commonvision 2 full business days to print materials needed for your clubs. Please note at this time, we can offer flyers and quartercards for Involvement Fest. Other services will have a turnaround time that extends beyond Involvement Fest.

National Black History Month 2017 continues through February!

I Heard It Through the Grapevine: Film Screening and Conversation

The spellbinding 1982 documentary I Heard It Through the Grapevine chronicles James Baldwin's return to the American South two decades after the passage of the Civil Rights Act. Directed by Dick Fontaine and Pat Hartley, this rare film includes Baldwin's conversations with Sterling Brown, Amiri Baraka, and Chinua Achebe on the meaning of racial progress. Maurice Wallace and Maleda Belilgne will lead a conversation on the film's historical importance and Baldwin's continuing significance today.

    The Homecoming 2016 Talent Show is quickly approaching! If you are an individual or group with talent, we invite you to come and showcase it at the Homecoming Talent Show to take place on Thursday, October 6th at 9pm in the University Center (UC): Ballroom!

    If you have a song, dance, poetry, or other creative talents that you would like to perform, we would not want you to miss this event! So, please reach out to us to secure yourself an audition slot!

    Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 4th from 4-8pm in the THAC (this is the theatre located in the Old Theatre building, seated next to the Registrar's Office).

Every four years, the Student Government Association proudly holds the non-partisan Election Night Extravaganza as we await the announcement of our newly elected President, and to celebrate American democracy. The night will be filled with conversations and debates, games, music, prizes, pizza, and lots of balloons! Our goal is to make this election season an experience shared by our UMBC community where we all get involved and excited about political elections, and celebrate our democracy. 

In the weeks leading up the night of Election Night Extravaganza, the SGA, in collaboration with (seb), Resident Student Association, College Democrats, and College Republicans, will be holding events to build hype around Election Day. Come to each event with your ENE Passport to be entered to win awesome prizes on the night of Election Night Extravaganza!

SGA is pleased to announce the new "General Meetings." Various departments and branches of the organization meet weekly - however, SGA rarely meets as a large group in a meeting. While we will continue to hold these weekly meetings, there might be a perception that those meetings are intimidating and don’t foster a welcoming environment for students interested in getting involved as well as they should. SGA wants to create a space for meaningful conversations about problems, challenges, and issues faced by our UMBC community. General Meetings are designed to address just that.


Each month, the SGA will facilitate conversations around topics that are “hot button” issues in our campus community. The meeting will begin with updates from SGA’s Executive Branch (including Department Directors) and Legislative Branch (Senate and Finance Board). These updates will help our UMBC community understand what exactly our SGA has been working on. Afterwards, we will begin our themed discussion in small groups. At the end of the night, we will determine next steps to make real change on campus.


The goal of the General Meetings is to do the following:

  • Provide a venue for SGA officials to share updates with the UMBC community

  • Increase SGA’s commitment of transparency

  • Networking opportunity for students to meet a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff for projects and initiatives

  • Discuss real problems on campus, and determine actionable initiatives

  • Get every person in our campus involved with SGA!
