Mosaic, IFC, and QSL Spring Break Hours Hello UMBC Community Members,

Please note that the Mosaic Center will have adjusted hours for Spring Break, March 19-23.

Our hours for our spaces are as follows:

Mosaic: Closed
QSL: Closed
IFC: Closed Monday and Tuesday
        Wednesday-Friday: 7a.m. - 11p.m. 

We will reopen our spaces at regular hours starting on Monday, March 26th.

The Women's Forum recognizes and celebrates the achievements of students, faculty and staff from across the system through award and scholarship programs. All awards and scholarships are open to any person regardless of sex, race, color, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status or disability. The award is open to both men and women. Application materials must be received by June 30th for consideration.

1. Student Scholarship: (scholarships are $500/student recipient) is open to all students attending a USM institution. In order to be eligible for the award, you must have earned a total of 48 undergraduate OR 9 graduate credits, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and have demonstrated financial need.

2. Professional Staff Development Award: (awards range from $250-$1000) 
provides funding to eligible staff members currently employed at USM institutions for a minimum of one (1) years cumulative service (with verification of employment supported by the applicant's USM institution's Human Resources Department). The USMWF wishes to encourage and enable staff to pursue training and/or professional development activities to enhance current job skills and/or seek career advancement opportunities. Funding can be used for non-credit courses and conferences.

3. Faculty Research Award (awards range from $500-$1000) is designed to 
provide a funding opportunity for faculty who are pursuing research on women's experiences: social, scientific, economic, political, and health conditions that impact women. All faculty who hold an academic appointment at any of the USM institutions may apply with preference given to junior faculty members at the rank of assistant professor, research associate, or instructor. In addition, faculty must be within five years of their appointment. Only one proposal per investigator will be considered.

Dear Mosaic, Interfaith Center, and Queer Student Lounge followers,


This is a reminder message to invite you to volunteer for our annual UMBC Suits You Professional Clothing Closet in Partnership with the Career Center. We would like to thank students who have already signed up to volunteer their time for our closet.


Carlos, the Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion is currently on the planning committee for UMBCSuitsYou, a professional clothing closet that gives students the opportunity to select free professional business attire to use in their future job searches.


To make the clothing closet a success, we are asking for your assistance. There are many volunteer roles to choose from, and if you are a student who volunteers a minimum of two hours (more if possible), you will be allowed early access to the closet (12:30PM-1PM) and take home one FREE professional outfit on Thursday, March 29th.


Volunteers are needed for the dates below:

If you are able to volunteer your time, please take a 5-6 minutes to fill out our sign-up form at tinyurl.com/UMBCsuitsyou2018. If you are able to volunteer the day(s) of the clothing drive, you are REQUIRED to attend our training on either Friday, March 9th from 12PM-1PM or Thursday, March 15th from 1:30PM-2:30PM in the Career Center Conference Room (Math/Psych, 210). The #GETACTIVE Challenge encourages the UMBC community to engage in physical activities that promote the dimensions of wellness with rewards and incentives.
The #GETACTIVE Challenge card can be picked up at the RAC Front Desk, OCSS, or the Recreation Office (RAC 321). Challenge Cards must be redeemed in RAC321.

To get all the stamps, you must complete six activities: two group fitness classes, one fun run, two special recreation events, and create one post using the hashtag on an eligible social media platform.

**Please note: There are no scheduled fitness expos for this semester. Therefore, the fitness expo stamp slot on the challenge card can be completed by attending a second special recreation event.

Mosaic, Interfaith Center and Queer Student Lounge Supporters - The Office of Human Relations Programs needs your feedback!  

"The purpose of the UMBC Campus Climate Survey is to understand the scope and nature of sexual violence at UMBC including experiences with, attitudes about, and behaviors toward sexual violence.  Your input will help inform and shape policies, procedures and practices that promote a safe, healthy and more welcoming campus."  - UMBC Women's Center 

The survey is confidential and your responses will be anonymous. You must be at least 18 years or older to participate in the survey. The survey takes about 15-25 minutes to complete. When you open the survey, you will have an opportunity to read the survey consent form, which includes important information, such as the potential risks and benefits to the participants, survey confidentiality, and your rights as a participant. You will then be asked to agree to participate before taking the survey.

You can access the online survey here: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4189144/UMBC-Campus-Climate-Survey. The survey will be open from Monday February 26 until Friday March 16, 2018. The first 150 participants will receive $5.00 Retriever Dollars on their UMBC Campus Card and the first 300 participants will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of PowerBeats Wireless Headphones or an Amazon Echo Dot. At the end of the survey, you will be directed to a separate link, where you can enter you name to be eligible for the prizes.

Each student at UMBC can play a role in shaping our campus culture, and this is one important way you can help.
