Retriever Essentials
It's Save A Swipe Time!
Save a Swipe is UMBC's unique meal sharing program!
A partnership between Retriever Essentials, Chartwells, and Campus Card allows you to donate some swipes from your meal plan to an anonymous pool that can be used by students identifying as food insecure so they don't go hungry on campus!
This year you have two meal-donation options:- Donate 5 meals between October 1- November 4
- Donate 10 meals between October 1- December 9
You have until SEPTEMBER 21 to signup online to donate through your option of choice. More details on the donation process are found on the google form.

Apply for Retriever Leadership Institute
Apps Due on September 23rd at 11:59PM
Retriever Leadership
Institute is a 5-week leadership workshop series sponsored by Campus
Life, SGA, Off Campus Student Services, the Honors College, and Residential
Life. The Retriever Leadership Institute
participants meet for 1.5 hours per week to hone leadership skills such as
working effectively in teams, managing conflict, and your values as a
leader. RLI’s many activities will keep
you engaged, and you'll emerge feeling confident, inspired and connected.
There there are four tracks to choose from (you must fall
into one of these four cohorts to participate).
RLI trainings start the week of October 1st and finish the week of
October 29th. To participate, you must
be available to attend all of the sessions of the Retriever Leadership
Institute. The weekly track meeting
times are listed below:

Commuter Retrievers: Mondays from 4:30-6:00pm (Oct.
1 - Oct. 29) in Harbor Hall MPR
●
Transfer Retrievers: Mondays from 2:30-4:00pm (Oct.
1 - Oct. 29) in Harbor Hall MPR
●
Honors College Retrievers: Fridays from 2:00-3:30pm
(Oct. 5 - Nov. 2) in Harbor Hall MPR
●
Residential Retrievers: Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30pm
(Oct. 2 - Oct. 30) in Harbor Hall MPR

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Apply for the Dept. of Special Projects!
Applications now due Friday, September 7!
The deadline for applications for positions in the Executive Branch's Special Projects has been extended until Friday, September 7th.
The Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives is responsible for overseeing, advising, and mentoring the leaders of SGA's most important initiatives including (but not limited to) Prove It! and Election Night Extravaganza. They will facilitate meetings, set strategies for large scale projects, and develop plans to sustain these initiatives for the foreseeable future.
The Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Prove It! is responsible for implementing SGA's annual idea competition, Prove It! This flagship initiative awards up to $10,000 to student groups that are seeking to to bring positive change to campus. The Associate Director will work with campus administrators to create a vetting process that determines the practicality of the submitted initiatives, administer the Prove It! election, determine how the program can be improved, and develop plans to sustain this initiative for the foreseeable future.
The Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza is responsible for implementing SGA's biannual event, Election Night Extravaganza. Election Night Extravaganza has historically occurred only in alignment with Presidential election cycles, but this year we are expanding it to midterm elections. The Associate Director will work with student leaders from The Student Events Board (seb), College Democrats, College Republicans, The Resident Student Association (RSA), and other politically-engaged student organizations on campus to deliver programming around the 2018 Elections. Election Night Extravaganza will take place on Election Day (November 6th), where SGA will take over The Commons with programming throughout the building. Additionally, the Associate Director will organize other relevant programming before and after Election Day including expanding the Coffee & Conversation series, voter registration drives, and other initiatives that promote civic engagement. Lastly, the Associate Director will be working closely with staff and administrators from the Division of Student Affairs to build on UMBC's culture of civic engagement.

Good Evening Incoming Retrievers,
Tomorrow is UMBC's New Student Convocation 2018. Unfortunately, it looks like the heat index for tomorrow is 105 degrees. For your safety, we have decided to CANCEL the Convocation Line Up scheduled for 2:45 p.m. in Lot 4! Convocation will still take place at the UMBC Event Center and is required for ALL Incoming students. Please bring your Red Card ID!
Welcome Week Leaders will be instructed to bring you DIRECTLY TO CONVOCATION. Please plan to be in front of the building by 3:00 p.m. to begin filing into the UMBC Event Center!
