Mental Health First Aid Friday, March 8, 2019, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, The Commons 318 Mental Health First Aid ® is an 8-hour national certification course that is designed to teach the layperson the skills to recognize the signs of a mental health or substance use disorder crisis, identify community resources, and link individuals in need of treatment and support to the proper resources. An in-person skills based course, Mental Health First Aid ® teaches participants a 5-step action plan that can be used to help those in need.

During our 15th Anniversary Celebration, we announced the launch of our GritStarter campaign and so far we have raised 10% of our intended goal! The funds that we raise will be used to support programs, outreach, and initiatives that cultivate the cultural consciousness of students, staff, and faculty on UMBC’s campus. But we can’t do it alone. The work of building a diverse AND inclusive campus requires investment from all community members.

GSA is looking to recruit the 2019-2020 Grants Review Panel (GRP), a panel made up of 2 graduate students from each of the following Disciplines: Engineering & Information Technology, Humanities & Arts, Natural Sciences & Mathematics, and Social Sciences & Education. The GRP is responsible for reviewing and finalizing GSA grant awardees each month.

Reviewers will be expected to score grant applications as requested, and meet once per month with the rest of the review panel to discuss scores and finalize decisions.

Responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing several grant applications per month
  • Using a rubric to assign scores to applications
  • Working with an interdisciplinary panel to make decisions about applications
  • Adhering to a pre-determined budget each month to award grants
  • Using Microsoft Excel or a similar software to keep track of scores and make grant decisions

Mandatory training will be implemented during the week of April 22-26th so please indicate your availability in the doodle poll in the application.
