Writing Advisor
The Writing Advisor is back for the 2023-2024 academic school year!
GSA's new Writing Advisor for the 2023-2024 academic school year, Ben Marino, is now accepting appointments to review your writing assignments. The Writing Advisor provides a wide range of services, from brainstorming and outlining an assignment to doing a last review for grammatical errors, and everything in between. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment with the Writing Advisor for any assignment that you would like reviewed. You do not need to have any work done on the assignment.
This semester, the writing advisor is accepting appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 am - 12 pm and 12:30 pm - 3:45 pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm. An appointment can be scheduled using either of the following links:

As we prepare for the semester, we would like to share our hours for the Fall. Below you will find the operational hours of these spaces. *Please note that space hours might shift based on staff availability, reservations, and event times*
Regular Fall Hours Begin Thursday, 08/31 and end on Study Day, Wednesday, 12/13.

- Weekends: Closed

- Final's Week: Hours will be posted in late November.

We are looking for first year and transfer students to join!
Becoming a new student on a campus is a big step. There are a lot of cultural changes that you will have to undergo in order for that transition to be a smooth one. That is why it is important to familiarize yourself with all that the university has to offer, and the Student Government Association here at UMBC is offering just that opportunity.
The First Year Ambassador (FYA) program, is SGA’s year-long leadership development program that is open to first-year and new transfer students. This program teaches students the organization and functions of the Student Government Association at UMBC. Furthermore, it teaches FYAs how to take advantage of their agency to create the campus that best serves the needs of students. The FYA program sets students up with the network, resources, and skills to be an effective leader on campus.
