<Title>RSVP for Dinner with Friends (Tues., 9/26, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.)</Title>

    <div class="html-content">On Tuesday, September 26, the Center for Democracy and Civic Life will host the fall 2023 Dinner with Friends: an engaging, facilitated conversation that will connect you with other members of the UMBC community. This event will take place in UC (University Center) 312 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The Center will provide a free catered dinner.<br><br>At Dinner with Friends, you’ll share stories, learn about each other’s experiences, and discuss how we can move forward together on a topic of your choice (see below). Students, faculty, staff, and alumni who participate in Dinners with Friends report that they have wonderful experiences.<br><br>Join a facilitated small-group conversation about one of the following discussion topics (you choose):<br><ul><li>Finding community and belonging at UMBC</li><li>Mental health at UMBC</li><li>Religious and faith-based inclusion at UMBC</li><li>Support for graduate students at UMBC</li><li>Welcoming neurodiversity at UMBC</li></ul><strong>Space at this Dinner with Friends program is limited, so please reserve your spot as soon as possible.     <div class="html-content"><p>Emerging Leaders is a day long experience for students who are interested in developing their leadership capacity and learning more about the Social Change Model (SCM) of Leadership Development.  SCM at it's core, approaches leadership as a purposeful, collaborative, values-based process that results in positive social change.</p><p>Students interested in this experience should be prepared to engage with material that asks them to be introspective, name their values, share in brave spaces, and value the voices of other participants.</p><p>Participants do not need to hold leadership positions or be heavily involved on campus.     <div class="html-content"><p><strong>Applications for the '23-'24 MLE Cohort can be found <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScRf1jYuZb-4r6pHuwFRl1uDsv70D7t7-UeaQGyQTBG_sZLLA/viewform?usp=sf_link" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">HERE</a>. </strong></p><p><strong>The Multicultural Leadership Experience (MLE) is a collaboration between Campus Life and Initiatives for Identity Inclusion &amp; Belonging (i3B), that seeks to: </strong></p><p><strong>Engage participants in a multicultural development and leadership learning program; <br>Enhance participants' understanding of their social identities, leader identity, as well as their capacity to lead; <br>And enable participants' development through authenticity, self-awareness, relationships, and capitalizing on difference. </strong></p><div><strong><br></strong></div><div><span><div>The sessions are as follows:<div> </div></div><div>- Monday, October 2nd, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, October 23rd, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, November 6th, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, November 20th, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, December 4th, 2023, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, February 5th, 2024, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- <em>No March Meeting</em></div><div>- Monday, April 8th, 2024, 3pm - 4:30pm</div><div>- Monday, May 6th, 2024, 3pm - 5:30pm (The Skylight Lounge)</div><div> </div><div>***All sessions will take place in The Commons Lower Flat Tuesdays minus the last meeting in May***</div><div><br></div><div><div>Participants will be exploring the concept of Authentic Leadership, Legacy Building, and Breaking Barriers of White Supremacy within Leadership. We will do this in a leadership learning cohort by: </div><ul><li>Enhancing participants' leader identity and leadership capacity using an identity-conscious lens and student development theories;</li><li>Increasing participants' awareness of their personal abilities, identity development, and intersections that shape their story through authenticity, self-reflection, and cultural humility;</li><li>Exploring the role they play in developing relationships while building intra/intercultural connections; </li><li>And capitalizing on their differences, specifically in relation to their racial, ethnic, national, and other salient identity social groups</li></ul><div> </div><div>The purpose of all MLE programs is to provide a space for students and student leaders who identify within diverse or marginalized backgrounds to discover their own capacity to lead, while also promoting a better understanding of their experiences, issues, strengths, and outcomes in navigating their own collegiate careers. <Title>Involvement Fest Prints</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><h3>ATTENTION UMBC student organizations! </h3><p><br></p><p>Involvement Fest is quickly approaching. commonvision (UMBC Design and Print Center) is here to help with your Involvement Fest prints!<span> </span></p><p><br></p><p>UMBC (and commonvision) is closed Monday, September 4 for Labor Day. This gives commonvision 2 full business days to print materials needed for your clubs. Please note at this time, we can offer <strong>flyers and quartercards</strong> for Involvement Fest. Other services will have a turnaround time that extends beyond Involvement Fest.<span> </span></p><p><br></p><p><strong>For best consideration, please submit your flyers and quartercards by 5 p.m. Friday, September 1 via</strong> <a href="mailto:commonvision@umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span><strong>commonvision@umbc.edu</strong></span></a><strong>. Any clubs using carryover funds will need to provide us with a completed RESGAF before printing will begin. Please note outside of chartstrings/club funds we only accept retriever dollars on your campus card.</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Something to consider is printing a couple flyers that stay at your table that contain a QR code to your organization's myUMBC group.
