Introducing the Graduate School CARE team
In an effort to better support the mental health and well being of our graduate student population, the Graduate School CARE team (Concern, Assessment, Referral and Education) was created to identify, monitor, and support graduate students facing significant obstacles to progress that do not rise to the level of the campus behavioral crisis team (BRACT). Members of the CARE team directly advise and support graduate students, advocate for them and liaise with their program/dept as requested, and refer/connect them to resources on campus that can assist them. As necessary, the CARE team triages with other campus units including BRACT, ISS/CGS, legal, OEI, and RIH.
As trends arise, the CARE team can make recommendations for changes in practice and policy (to the Graduate School, to the Colleges, etc.) that improve student mental health, success and sense of belonging.

Title IX Forum is TOMORROW!!!
Meet ECR and advocate for change related to Title IX!
The Office of Equity and Civil Rights (ECR), SGA, GSA, and the Women's Center are hosting a Title IX Forum TOMORROW, April 3rd from 4:30-6:00pm in Commons Skylight Room!.
This event will serve as an introduction of the Office of Equity and Civil Rights (ECR) to the student body. They oversee the office of Title IX. ECR will share their goals for the future about Title IX related concerns, and answer questions submitted via this
google form.
Please
RSVP, limited seats are available, thus, reserved spaced will be prioritized over walk-up students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We will also be promoting resources that pertain to the issue of sexual violence and safety - things like the Women's Center's programs, Green Dot training, and other on and off-campus resources!
Your opinion matters. We want any and every student to have their voice heard and be a part of policies and decisions made on campus, especially related to sexual violence and safety!
This will be a space where individuals are able to advocate for themselves or others for reform to our school's Title IX policies and services that individuals need that are related to issues like this.
Some of the topics that will be discussed might be triggering for individuals so please take care of yourself and step out if needed. Staff will be present to assist folks in any way. What is Meet and Confer (M&C)?
Meet and Confer (M&C) is a policy within the University System of Maryland (USM) that allows Graduate Assistants to participate in formal discussions with the administration regarding employment-related matters, including compensation and benefits. To learn more about M&C, please visit the

M&C Meetings- Spring '24
This year, we have adopted a new approach by organizing separate M&C meetings for each college at UMBC. This strategy is designed to address specific issues facing Graduate Assistants within individual colleges and departments in a more focused manner. Additionally, we have extended invitations to department chairs to ensure that department-level administration actively participates in resolving GA-related concerns, in collaboration with graduate school administration.
The
CAHSS M&C Meeting is scheduled for April 15th, and we strongly encourage all
GAs from CAHSS Departments to complete
the survey. Your input will allow you to voice your concerns and issues to the Graduate Assistant Advisory Committee, who will present them at the M&C meetings for discussion and resolution.
Stop by the Office of Health Promotion (Located in The Center for Well-Being, Room 102) from today, April 2nd to Friday, April 5th to pick up art supplies and to enter the art show. Once you enter the Condom Art Show you will have the chance to win one of the three mystery prizes!
The deadline to submit your art project is Monday, April 8th by (5:00PM)

Good morning Retrievers! We have a few fun events planned for this week:
Join us and Retriever Integrated Health on Tuesday, April 2nd from 4 PM - 6 PM in The Commons on Mainstreet as we work on destressing half way through the semester by making jewelry, decorating a tapestry, and receiving free acupuncture. There will also be free food and a chance to win prizes!

Join us on Thursday, April 4th from 10 AM - 12 PM in The Commons on Mainstreet as we learn about the misconceptions of HIV/AIDS through Minute To Win It games!
Join us as we celebrate National Public Health Week with FREE HIV testing to the community on Thursday, April 4th from 10 AM - 2 PM in the Office of Health Promotion! There will be free snacks, drinks, and games to play while waiting for your results.
