    <div class="html-content"><h1>The 2025 M.O.S.T. Grant Cycle</h1><p>We hope that you would consider submitting a proposal either for an individual faculty or institutional grant supported by the Maryland Open Source Textbook (M.O.S.T.) Initiative. The due date for proposals is <strong>April 18<sup>th</sup> at 11:59PM Eastern</strong>.<br> <br>The Faculty Grant Program offers support in the way of Adopt/Adapt OER ($1,000 grant + Participation in the Lumen Circles Community of Practice) and Create/Revise and Publish OER ($2,000 grant + Participation in the Rebus Textbook Success Program).<br> <br>Institutional grants will include $20,000 to support significant advances in OER adoption, scaling, and sustainability in support of student success. <Title>M.O.S.T. OER Grant Proposals for 2025 due April 18: Institutional and Faculty Mini-Grant Opportunities</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>A <a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=1be4f47fb6&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">recording of the information session</a> for the Maryland Open Source Textbook (M.O.S.T.) 2025 grant cycle is now available. The session provided an overview of open educational resources (OERs) as well as critical details about institutional and faculty mini-grants for 2025. </p><p>The deadline for the 2025 proposals is <strong>April 18, 2025</strong> (11:59 p.m. ET).<br> <br>For more details about the M.O.S.T. grants, including the Requests for Proposals, visit <a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=9526116cfd&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">https://www.oer-maryland.org/support-sustain/most-oer-grant-program/</a>.</p><p>In 2023, <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/instructional-technology/posts/142272" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">UMBC's Jill Vasbinder</a>, adjunct faculty, Department of Dance (Dance Appreciation, Dance History), created an OER dance history course as a recipient of the Maryland Open Source Textbook (M.O.S.T.) Faculty OER Grant Program. </p><p>The M.O.S.T. initiative supports efforts to increase faculty access, affordability, and achievement for students at Maryland's postsecondary institutions through incorporating open educational resources into teaching practice.</p><p>From spring 2014 to fall 2023, 210 courses at 29 institutions across Maryland have switched to OER, saving students more than $22 million in cumulative textbook costs. Since spring 2014, M.O.S.T. has impacted more than 160,000 students, who saved an average of $137 per course. </p><p><strong>Note: </strong><span>All institutional grants and faculty grants awarded to UMBC must be routed to the Office of Sponsored Programs prior to submission.     <div class="html-content"><strong><span>Summer 2024 Open Education Publishing Institute</span></strong><br><br><span>The Graduate Center of the City University of New York is pleased to announce a </span><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=d0d90ab355&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">call for participants for the Summer 2024 Open Education Publishing Institute: Collaborative Knowledge and Social Justice</a><span>, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities Institutes for Advanced Topics in the Digital Humanities grant program and hosted by GC Digital Initiatives and the GC Teaching and Learning Center.</span><br><br><span>The three-week hybrid institute will take place in person June 12th-14th, 2024 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York, and virtually via Zoom June 17th-27th, with virtual follow-ups in August and January (more details below). Participants will receive a lump-sum award of $4,200 that will cover travel, lodging, and per diem expenses for the in-person sessions and overall participation in the institute. <Title>From Syllabi to Textbooks- Institutional OER Accessibility</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span>ISKME and CAST’s National <a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=6e38224870&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">AEM (Accessible Educational Materials) Center</a> invite <strong>teams of faculty and staff</strong> to learn how to use accessible Open Educational Resources (OER) to make learning more equitable and bust the barriers to learning that millions of learners experience every day. <br> <br>Our Accessible OER Academy series is provided at no-cost to teams at Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) and will introduce cohorts to how openly licensed resources are key levers for both adapting existing resources to increase digital accessibility and designing resources that are accessible for learners with disabilities from the start.     <div class="html-content"><div><span>Faculty, staff, and faculty/staff/student teams who have engaged in the use of Generative AI as part of assignments and learning activities are invited to propose sessions for the <strong><a href="https://www.usmd.edu/cai/incorporating-generative-ai-learning-experiences-virtual-showcase" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Incorporating Generative AI into Learning Experiences Virtual Showcase</a></strong>, taking place via Zoom on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm ET. </span></div><div><br></div><div>We welcome proposals for brief showcase presentations from faculty, staff, and faculty/staff/student teams from accredited Maryland institutions of higher education related to their development and use of assignments and learning activities that incorporate Generative AI. Learning experiences may reside inside or outside of the classroom and across different modalities.</div><div><br></div><div>Presenters will have 10-15 minutes of presentation time followed by moderated Q&amp;A, for a total of 20 minutes. Deadline Extended to October 9, 2023. </strong><br><br>At the core of our conference theme is the question: What happens when students and their collaborators—peers, faculty, community members, librarians, and more—drive knowledge creation?<br><br>We invite proposals that contribute to this conversation and showcase innovative approaches to open educational practices that empower learners to be active creators of knowledge and contributors to a more inclusive and equitable world. <br><br><strong>About the Summit:</strong><br>Date: Friday, December 1, 2023<br>Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm ET<br>Location: Salisbury University<br><em>Special Networking Reception: Thursday, November 30, 6:00 - 7:30 pm  </em><br><br>This one-day summit will bring together educators, students, librarians, instructional designers, and administrators from across Maryland postsecondary institutions to explore the dynamic world of open pedagogy. From philosophical discussions about power in the classroom to practical strategies for implementing open educational practices, this event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of open education. </span></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table><table border="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td><table border="0"><tbody><tr><td><a title="Call for Proposals - Due October 9, 2023" href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=31bae6c20a&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Call for Proposals - Due October 9, 2023</a></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table><table border="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td><table border="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td><strong><span>Session Formats:</span></strong><br><span>Concurrent sessions are 45 minutes long and will have the following formats:  </span><ul><li><span>“Lightning” Talks: 15 min presentation, 5 min Q &amp; A each, 2 presenters per 45-minute session. clustered by theme or topic. Propose one talk and we’ll match you with another or join with a colleague to propose a set of two related 15-minute talks. </span></li><li><span>Panel Discussion: 45-minute panels with 3-4 panelists speaking about a particular topic, issue, or instance of open pedagogy, Panel sessions will include at least 5 minutes for Q&amp;A at the end and one panelist should plan on moderating the session.</span></li><li><span>Participatory Workshops: 45-minute workshops that include a plan for participant interaction.  </span></li><li><span>“Unconference” sessions: 45-minute sessions with a format and facilitation of your choice. </span></li></ul><br><span><a href="https://oer-maryland.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4ce992e3f6db63c7af9c28afd&amp;id=c8cf8e5511&amp;e=b54e6989f4" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Visit our event webpage for registration and more information</a></span></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></div>
