Starting January 2017, the MTA will offer a CharmCard® (smart card) alternative to the paper magnetic monthly All Access College Transit Pass. The CharmCard® College Pass will be issued to students to use for fare payment. The CharmCard® College Pass will allow the same student riding privileges with additional flexibility. Load the CharmCard® with stored value or a 31 Day Pass to ride MTA’s Local Transit Services.

Unlike the paper monthly pass valid for one calendar month, the CharmCard® 31 Day College Pass may be activated at any time of the month and used for 31 consecutive days on MTA Local Transit Services and Express Bus (no upcharge required). In addition, stored value may be used to take single trips for the $1.20 student fare with 90 minutes of unlimited free transfers to MTA Local Services and Express Bus (no upcharge required). And the CharmCard® College Pass is reusable until it expires August 31, 2017.
