see the following route maps below for all UMBC Transit local weekdays and
weekends route.

UMBC Transit will be providing its
customary routes 7 days a week for the Fall 2021 semester. Operational hours
are as follows: Monday – Friday 6:30am – 11:30pm, Saturday – Sunday 8:00am –
11:30pm.

Frequency varies per route – Please see the
Transit website for specific hours and route schedules. The bus locator system
(Transit
Tracker) is available for determining the real-time location of
specific buses on route. The app is
also used to send updates and messages to the ridership.
Health and Safety
At this time, facial masking will still be
required aboard buses and at stops.
Your ID is Your Ticket to Ride
Your campus ID is required to be presented and
swiped upon boarding. You will be swiping your card to validate enrollment and
to create a ridership report per route. No visitors are permitted on Transit
buses at this time.

Lot 22 (off Wilkens Avenue and Hilltop Road near the PAHB) on campus. We look

Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE) conference is organized by American Democracy Project (ADP) and NASPA to bring together faculty, student affairs professionals, senior campus administrators, students, and community partners. The theme for the 2021 virtual conference is “Defining the Path Forward.”
On June 4th at 1.30 pm, Fariha Khalid, Samantha Fries, Faith Davis, and Erin Kosloski from UMBC will be presenting in a Civic Cafe Session at CLDE, “Improving Basic Needs Access on College Campus.” They will discuss the findings of a mixed-methods community-based research on food and basic needs insecurity among UMBC students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, they will highlight the role of Retriever Essentials in supporting vulnerable populations of our campus community. By the end of the session, participants are expected to understand the phenomenon of basic needs insecurity, share best practices to address the problem, and exchange knowledge/skills to form an ongoing network of resources.

URCAD Presentation By Sarah Jacobson
Addressing Food Insecurity Among College Students In Marylan
Congratulations to our very own GES Intern, Sarah Jacobson, who is presenting her research project at URCAD. During her work with Retriever Essentials, Sarah researched food insecurity on college campuses in Maryland. We are so proud of you Sarah!
"In collaboration with the UMBC food pantry, Retriever Essentials, I am conducting geospatial analyses and generating online webmaps that assess the pervasive issue of food insecurity among Maryland college students, to recommend how institutional food pantries can implement operational best practices to effectively meet student need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Current research states that approximately one-third of all students at two- and four- year institutions face food and housing insecurity while earning a degree. Through geospatial analysis on food and poverty rates in Maryland, my research illustrates the connection between federally recognized poverty areas and food insecurity rates to which institutions, based on their location and institution type, are most likely to provide food resources to their students. We identified campus pantry points-of-contact, and conducted a semi-structured survey to understand campus pantry operations and services in more detail, along with assessing how analyses on how COVID-19 has impacted a pantry’s ability to provide the resources needed by their students. Retriever Essentials and I plan to utilize the data as part of a comprehensive effort to assess the availability of food and basic needs resources on Maryland college campuses, and what campuses can do to better connect students with these resources."
