UMBC's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers showed off during the Fall Conference of NSBE's mid-Atlantic region on November 5-7, 2010. 24 students travelled to the conference to develop themselves as leaders academically, professionally, and culturally.
Four students competed in the Technical Research Exhibition, presenting undergraduate work done during internships and REU's. Maleshia Jones (MechE) won first place in the poster competition! Kudos go to Nateé Johnson (Mech E), Sheriff Jolaoso (Comp E), and Chrysantus Bandon-Bibum II (Mech E)!
Two teams with 10 total people competed in the Battle of the Engineers, earning a top 10 and a top 3 spot amongst schools like Carnegie Mellon, UPitt, Virginia Tech, and UMD-College Park. Kudos to Henry Washington (Mech E), Aishah Ayaz (Mech E), Nateé Johnson, Maleshia Jones, Joshua Austin (Math), Kerry Luke (Comp E), Israel Ilufoye (Comp E), Fri-Atsoh AchiriMofor (Mech E), Derek Woodland (Mech E), and Deanna Easley (Mech. E)!
Several students from UMBC were also recognized for their Contributions and Presentations in workshops and behind the scenes to contribute to the success of the conference. Kudos to Nateé Johnson, Jasmine Jones (CS), and Sylvester Ezeani (CS)!
