The UMBC Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary is very proud to congratulate members of Susquehanna Hall's Residential Life staff. NRHH participates in a monthly recognition program called "Of The Months", intended to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals or groups to benefit the residential community. Awards selected for recognition at the Campus level are sent on to a Regional Committee for further recognition. Two of UMBC's nominations for August were selected for this high honor.
Susquehanna Desk Staff member Jennifer Bohn for a number of helpful acts throughout the month of August. Jen made an exceptional effort to meet and get to know residents moving into the building, especially during new student move-in day. Later in the month, she went out of her way to assist another resident who was having difficulty getting registered for a course necessary for his major. Jen also represents her fellow staff members on Residential Life's Desk Staff Council, a group that meets to discuss issues the various communities are facing to determine possible solutions. Susquehanna Hall was also recognized for an outstanding community social hosted by the building's RA staff, including Michael Reyes, Rose Barry, Brett Reynolds, Sharmila Das, Julia Wittkamper, Taylor Penn, Mike Zurkowski, and Community Director Jes Lassiter. The staff held "Pancake Palooza" in Susquehanna Basement on August 29th to allow residents to meet one another as they got ready to attend classes starting in two day's time. All of the RA's worked to mass-produce dozens of pancakes in three varieties for their hungry residents, feeding over half the building over the course of an hour. NRHH congratulates these individuals on their excellent work, encourages them to continue their efforts, and wishes them luck as their nominations continue on for possible recognition at the national level.
