Reminder to your supervisor to submit your position description to HR Non Exempt Staff Position Description due on March 31st
Dear Nessies,

Please ensure that your position description should be updated and submitted to HR before March 31st. As of today, only 17 out of 77 non-exempt staff position descriptions have been received.

This initiative began last fall to ensure everyone is classified correctly and to establish accurate descriptions of our positions within the campus community. HR sent these requests to supervisors in late 2025 to be completed and returned by the March 31st deadline.

Inclusive excellence has long been a cultural touchstone at UMBC. Before now, we haven't had a definition or any other shared language to describe what we mean. This is your chance to inform our definition. Leaders in the Division of Institutional Equity have drafted a framework for inclusive excellence, and we want your input! 

The framework aims to articulate our community's shared commitments in a way that can communicate our values, guide action, inspire new collaboration, and support the development and implementation of UMBC's next strategic plan.

Join The Centers for Social Justice Dialogue and Democracy and Civic Life for UMBC Talks, which are 90-minute, co-facilitated dialogues designed to support your engagement with the framework. Each UMBC Talk will be the same, so please sign up for the one that best suits your schedule. We hope to see you there. Come and leave your mark on this important moment in UMBC's history.

If you find that you require additional resources, don't forget to visit The Essential Space on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday every week from 11am-5:30pm. Even though we are closed on Thursdays, make sure to come visit us at our Free Farmers' Market at The Apartment Community Center on Thursdays from 2pm-2:45pm.

Today is the FINAL DAY for Save-a-Swipe Donations!

Feel like making a difference in your community? If you own a meal plan through UMBC, you are eligible to donate to our Save-a-Swipe program! You can donate 5-10 meals to Save-a-Swipe, where they will be pooled and delegated to students experiencing food insecurity later in the semester. We are very happy to announce that our program is back for the spring semester, and we look forward to how many lives we can change!

Donations close on February 25th, so please donate when you can!
