Happy Monday, everyone! Promotions are now available to admins of Institutional and Student Org groups!
To create a promotion
- Go to the post or event you want to promote
- Click the Promote button
- Follow the instructions to pick the date you want your promotion to run
- Done
You can see a list of upcoming promotions on the Promotions tab of your group.
Rules for Promotions
- Your group can promote a post/event as many times as you want.
- Your group must have at least 3 days between each promotion.
- Your group can only have up to 15 upcoming promotions for institutional groups and 5 for student org groups.
- Your promotion must be relevant to everyone at UMBC: students, faculty, and staff.
- If you need to promote to a subset of the community, contact the appropriate group.
- If caught in violation of these rules, you will be warned. Further violations may result in your group losing the ability to promote.

It's a "soft launch"...
We're launching promotions in production to give folks (and us) a chance to see how they work as people start using them. It is a very difficult thing to test internally because of the community dynamics involved. We will be monitoring them and adjusting the system throughout the summer based on feedback and how well it works.
