Daniel Pesca's Compositions Receive Premieres
On March 4th, Daniel Pesca's piece New Examples of Confusion was premiered at the University of Chicago by the Grossman Ensemble with Tim Weiss conducting.
Tomorrow, on March 19th at 4pm, his piece Walk with me, my joy for flute, cello, piano, and percussion will be premiered at a Constellations Chamber Concerts event in downtown DC. For more information and tickets go to their website. Congrats to Daniel Pesca!

Viola da Gamba Society to Give Lecture Demonstration
Amy Domingues and Carol Marsh of the Viola da Gamba Society of America will give a short lecture and performance demonstration in the Linehan Concert Hall on Wednesday, March 16, at 1:00pm. All are welcome to attend.
The Viola da Gamba is a stringed, fretted instrument that was popular in Europe and European colonies during the Renaissance and Baroque eras. Translated as "leg fiddle," the Viola da Gamba is held between the legs and bowed, and it comes in multiple sizes and ranges.

Jacqueline Pollauf, affiliate artist in harp, recently published an article in the American String Teacher Journal, Eliza Ridgely: More than Her Portrait about historic Baltimore harpist and subject of a Thomas Sully portrait, Eliza Ridgely.
In March, Pollauf will be giving a talk for the American String Teacher 2022 Conference entitled, "Building Technical Skills through Harp Warm-up Exercises"
Also, Pollauf is continuing her online concert series with a thematic livestream performance given monthly. The 2021-2022 season includes programs exploring the Music of Marcel Tournier, Russian Harp Music, and Music from the Paris Conservatoire. A

Linda Dusman Scholarly Paper Acceptances
Dr. Linda Dusman's collaborative research with Dr. Linda Baker (Professor emerita, Psychology Department), The Bearman Study of Audience Engagement at the National Orchestral Institute and at the Utah Symphony and funded by the Bearman Chair in Entrepreneurship at UMBC, has resulted in two scholarly paper acceptances. They will present their paper "Informal Music Learning in Real-time via Smartphone App: Enhancing Audience Engagement" at The International Society of Music Education in Melbourne, Australia in July. Dr. Dusman will present "Music Theory in the Concert Hall: Enhancing Public Engagement in Realtime via Smartphone App" at the Pedagogy Into Practice Conference at Michigan State University in June, where her presentation has been selected for broadcast to remote audiences. She is a co-author with Dr. Foad Hamidi (Assistant Professor, Informations Systems Department) et al of "Raaz: A Transdisciplinary Exploration at the Intersection of Bioart, HCI, and Community-Engagement," which has been accepted for publication in the journal Frontiers in Computer Science.
