The Position: Executive Director & Chief Development Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

General Purpose: The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Campaign and Planned Giving Associate to support the BSO’s Resounding Campaign—a comprehensive, multi-year $65,000,000 Campaign that is presently 74% towards its founding goals. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting and expanding the daily fundraising operations of this multi-year campaign through prospect management, research and stewardship; campaign communications and reporting; and event coordination.

Position Summary

The Director of Development (DOD), a member of the senior management team, reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the museum’s Development, Marketing & Communications, including Board of Trustees activities, in collaboration with the Executive Director. The Development Department develops a strategic approach to fundraising, grant opportunities, donor cultivation and endowment growth in an effort to increase the financial position and sustainability of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. In partnership with the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees, s/he will develop and manage relationships with stakeholders and key constituents of the museum. The Director of Development will serve as the key Board liaison and will participate in regular Board and standing committee meetings of the Board of Trustees. S/he ensures that the museum’s communication strategy reflects the mission, strategic direction and position of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum.

Position Summary 

The Membership and Database Manager is responsible for ensuring that the museum meets its annual membership goals and that all museum data is accurate and up-to-data. He/She supports the growth of the membership program as it relates to earned income, by driving new and repeat attendance, and working in close collaboration with the Education and Visitor Services team. This role is key to capturing institutional knowledge in order to drive business needs and solve problems. The Membership and Database Manager reports to the Director of Education and Visitor Services.  

Organization Description:

The Manager of Individual Giving will advance the mission of the Walters by planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to increase the level of personal involvement and financial commitment of annual donors. This individual will have the unique opportunity to help execute a new membership program at the Walters with a focus on philanthropic support and engagement. Emphasis will be given on increasing the contribution levels of current supporters to the Walters as well as engagement and cultivation of new audiences.
