The Walters Art Museum, situated in the historic Mt. Vernon district of Baltimore, seeks a Special Events Coordinator to provide administrative support with the production and logistics for the museum’s annual Gala and Party and all other development events. Please join Albin O. Kuhn Library  Gallery this week in celebrating National Library Week. This year’s theme is Libraries Transform and the UMBC community and Library staff are asking “What does transformation look like at our library?” In light of the ongoing international refugee crises as well as the larger immigration conversation here in the U.S., the Library has chosen to showcase authors and other creators in our collections from some of the countries impacted by the 2017 travel ban. The capstone event of UMBC’s participation in National Library Week is a Humanities Forum lecture given by Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress. Thursday evening’s event, titled “A Conversation About Digital Access,” will begin at 5:30 pm in the Linehan Concert Hall in the Performing Arts & Humanities Building. This event is free and open to the public.

The Maryland Historical Society has an opening for a full-time Digital Education Manager. Over the past three years, the MdHS has introduced a thriving distance learning program, as well as an interactive online history curriculum that has been adopted by 16 of Maryland’s 24 school systems. We are fully committed to expanding digital offerings in the immediate future, including interactive digital gallery tours, increased of integration of technology into exhibitions, and streaming of lectures.

The Maryland Historical Society (MdHS), a museum and library in Baltimore, is recruiting volunteer docents to deliver interactive tours and programs for student and adult groups. We are seeking candidates who have an interest in history, enjoy working with the public, and feel comfortable speaking to groups. Training on MdHS collections, exhibitions, tour methodology and themes, and museum policies will be provided. Volunteers are scheduled as needed upon mutual agreement with MdHS staff for the following:

The Walters Art Museum Security Department seeks an individual to work 24 hours per week on the dayshift preferably on Thursdays from 1:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturdays from 9:15a to 5:15pm and Sundays from 9:15am to 5:15pm. Reporting to the Dayshift Gallery Supervisor, the incumbent will have responsibility for preparing the galleries for daily operation, monitoring activities in the Museum and implementing museum procedures as needed.

The incumbent will have responsibility for providing security for the Museum’s collection and Special Exhibitions by patrolling the galleries as assigned. Peter has held senior leadership positions in both public and private companies: from Johns Hopkins University Medical School working with MD and PhD students as they transition qualified ideas from the bench to the bedside for both the domestic and global marketplace to President of publically traded Document Security Systems where he  increased sales by 200% by the restructure of its production staff, improving go-to market performance, and building an integrated sales structure.

With numerous speeches and presentations throughout the world, Ettinger is an author of articles in the fields of authentication, verification and document security and has also received numerous awards in the media and production fields.

Working in UMBC’s community of entrepreneurs has been such a learning experience for me, and I can’t think of another community that could be a greater source of inspiration and motivation. As the semester comes to a close and my graduation from UMBC approaches, my time as the Alex. Brown Center’s marketing intern is coming to an end. The Center is actively looking for a new Marketing Intern who demonstrates enthusiasm for the ENTR community at UMBC, and who wants to help take the Alex. Brown Center to the next level. 1.        Update/enhance Alex. Brown Center website on a regular basis

2.       Ensure all social media tools, including the Center’s Twitter feed, LinkedIn group, Facebook page, myUMBC Group and ENTR Minor Group page is consistently up to date by providing relevant information on applied learning opportunities, events and professional development opportunities

a.       Content contains information about upcoming events, competitions, available resources or other opportunities.

b.       Create 2-3 posts a week

3.       Set up a calendar of events on myUMBC

4.       Promote and share top events for UMBC representatives (student, faculty and company entrepreneurs) to attend or present

5.       Provide students interested in starting businesses with relevant tools and documentation on how to get started via the ABCE website

6.       Attend Center sponsored events for documentation purposes

a.       Encourage others to get involved in the online conversations as well

7.       Serve as a familiar student contact for students who may have questions about the ENTR program(s) or events
