Join us on Friday, October 24th at 1:00 PM at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (home of Ingenuity, located at 1400 W Cold Spring Ln, Baltimore, MD 21209) for an afternoon with the Math Modeling Club!
This event is focused on connecting students with students and professionals who use mathematics and statistics to tackle real-world problems. Come share your experiences, chat with the students, and help them explore some exciting modeling competition problems!

We’ve received a request about purchasing a Mu Sigma Rho graduation cord, so we’re placing a group order to make sure they arrive in time for our induction ceremony on May 9th.

Spring Lecture Series
Hone your Coding Skills with Mu Sigma Rho and Pi Mu Epsilon!
Mu Sigma Rho and Pi Mu Epsilon are delighted to announce a four-part lecture series focused on programming! This series features engaging talks from Undergraduate students majoring in Mathematics or Statistics.
When: Every Wednesday from April 16 to May 7, 12:00-12:45pm

Are you interested in Statistics and looking for ways to
grow academically and professionally? Mu Sigma Rho, the Honor Society
for Statistics Students, offers opportunities to connect with peers, learn, and
celebrate the field of statistics together.
Eligibility Requirements
If you meet the following criteria, we’d be happy to have
you apply:
Undergraduate Students:
- Completed
at least 2 years of college coursework.
- Completed
8 semester hours (or 12 quarter hours) of statistics courses,
including 5 semester hours (or 7 quarter hours) at the junior
level.
- Earned
a GPA of at least 3.40 (on a 4.0 scale) in all undergraduate
statistics courses and a minimum GPA of 3.20 in all undergraduate
courses.
Graduate Students:
- Completed
at least 12 semester hours (or 18 quarter hours) of graduate-level
statistics courses.
- Maintained
a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) in all graduate-level
statistics courses.
- Enrolled
as a graduate student in good standing.

Events and Activites for Fall 2024 Semester
Help Spread the Word About Majoring in STAT!
Hi Mu Sigma Rho Students,
Happy one month into the Fall Semester! We hope your classes are going well.
Our chapter advisor Dr. Nguyen shared some events and activities on campus (major events) and off campus (enrollment growth opportunities) in the Baltimore County/Baltimore City area, for us to get the word out about the UMBC STAT program and inform high school students about an undergraduate degree in statistics.
Below is the list of outreach opportunities for the fall semester. We are looking for at least one Mu Sigma Rho representative to be present at each event. If you are able to attend an event, please write your name in the 'Attendant Name' column. Dr. Nguyen and MSR officers will follow up with you any next steps to prepare for the event.
