<Title>Study Abroad Approval for Scholars</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Scholars <em>may</em> have the option to 
    participate in a study abroad program for one semester and utilize their
     scholarship for credit-worthy courses earned abroad. Any additional 
    semesters abroad require special review. Prior approval is required from
     both the Office of Financial Aid &amp; Scholarships and the Study 
    Abroad Office.<br><br>In order to utilize your financial aid and/or merit scholarship awards, all UMBC students receiving any source of aid are required to meet with
     their Assigned Financial Aid Counselor at least 60 days prior to 
    departure.  Failure to do so may result in the loss or a hold on your account.<br><br>For approval, scholars must first meet with a representative from the UMBC <a href="https://studyabroad.umbc.edu/pre-departure/financial-aid-and-scholarship-transfer/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Study Abroad Office</a>.<br><br>Once you have fulfilled the requirements at the Study Abroad Office, you will need to schedule an appointment with your Assigned <a href="https://financialaid.umbc.edu/study-abroad/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Financial Aid counselor</a><u> to  complete the following:<br><br></u>1) Signed Statement of Understanding (attached)<br>2) Study Abroad Budget Form (completed at the Study Abroad Office)<br>3) Acceptance Letter from the Program<br>4) <span>Meyerhoff Study Abroad Request Form</span><strong> (<em>Meyerhoff Scholars Only</em>)<br></strong></div>
