    <div class="html-content"><div><strong>Welcome New &amp; Returning UMBC Merit Scholars!</strong></div><div><br></div><div>This exclusive myUMBC Group is designed for university merit scholars receiving an academic scholarship. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Please update your "Notifications" option for this group to ensure you continue receiving important information regarding scholarship eligibility, community events and upcoming deadlines.</div><div><br></div><div><u>As we prepare for the start of the Fall 2020 semester, please find below some tips to assist in answering the most common questions:</u></div><div><br></div><div><br><strong>1. When will my “Pending Aid” apply to my student bill? <br></strong></div><div><br></div><div>“Pending Aid” is automatically posted to student accounts prior to the start of each semester through Student Business Services (SBS).  Fall 2020 aid will disburse to student accounts automatically beginning August 17, 2020 for<u><strong> full-time</strong></u> enrolled students and continue every Tuesday thereafter.  <br></div><div><br></div><div>Pending Aid for students enrolled <u><strong>part-time</strong></u> will disburse beginning September 15, 2020.<br><br>If there is a balance due after any pending aid is applied for the semester, the student will be responsible to pay the balance no later than the 20th of the month indicated on the student e-Bill.<br></div><div><br></div><div><strong>2. What happens to any remaining financial aid and scholarship funds after my bill is paid? <br></strong></div><div><strong><br></strong></div><div>If financial aid &amp; scholarships exceeds the balance on the student account, Student Business Services (SBS) will process a refund via the method selected by the student with their office. Typically, refunds will be processed within a few days of financial aid disbursement. The length of time it may take to receive a refund also varies depending upon the refund method selected. Typically, e-refunds are available sooner than paper checks. Can I apply for additional scholarship opportunities at UMBC? <br></strong></div><div><br></div><div>Yes! You may apply through <strong><em>Scholarship Retriever</em></strong> at <a href="umbc.academicworks.com" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">umbc.academicworks.com</a>. New opportunities are posted throughout the academic year; therefore, we encourage students to actively check back for new scholarships posted.<strong><br></strong></div><div><br></div><div><strong>4. How do I report external or private scholarships I am receiving to UMBC? </strong></div><div><br></div><div>Any external, non-UMBC scholarship should be reported to our office so we may update the student account accordingly. The Private Scholarship Notification form may be completed online <a href="https://ofas.umbc.edu/eforms/?id=21PrivateScholarship" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">here</a>.<br></div><div><br></div><div><strong>5.     <div class="html-content"><div><h6>Hi Scholars!</h6></div><div><h6><br></h6></div><div><h5>​The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Mid-Maryland Post is 
    proud to announce its 14th annual scholarship competition!<br></h5><p>High school 
    seniors and full-time undergraduate students (freshman through junior) 
    pursuing a degree in engineering, architecture, or related science, 
    planning, and construction fields are eligible to apply.  <br></p><p>Scholarship applications are available at 
    <a href="http://www.same.org/Get-Connected/Find-a-Post/Mid-Maryland/Outreach/Scholarships">www.same.org/Get-Connected/Find-a-Post/Mid-Maryland/Outreach/Scholarships</a>, <br></p><p>Applications are due <strong><u>April 19th</u></strong>. Multiple awards of at least $1,000 each will be
