Last Day to Submit Withdrawal Requests is THIS FRIDAY!
Hello Scholars!
Friendly reminder that November 13th is the last day to withdrawal from individual courses with a "W" grade for Fall 2018 semester.
Merit Scholars considering withdrawing below 12 credits for the semester, must submit a Scholarship Withdrawal Request Form for approval, prior to withdrawing from their class(es) with the Registrar's Office.
*Committee reviews of all requests may take up to 48 hours, therefore, the last day to accept requests is November 9, 2018

Mid-Semester Resources!
As a friendly
reminder, all merit scholarship recipients are required to maintain a minimum
grade point average (GPA) and successfully complete at least 12+ credits (6+
credits for transfer students) each semester. Since mid-terms are quickly
approaching, we have provided you the following list of accessible resources on
campus to ensure you successfully meet the terms of your scholarship
agreement
●Arrange a meeting with an academic
advisor at the Advising Services
Department to discuss
success strategies.
●Utilize Student Support and Tutoring Services for peer and tutoring resources.
● Visit the Learning Resources Center
for learning assistance services.
● Schedule a one-on-one meeting with
your professors to validate you are obtaining the accurate information in
lectures and/or labs.
At the end of the fall semester, the Merit Scholarship Review Committee will review your academic
record and confirm compliance with your scholarship requirements.

Planning to Study Abroad?
Receive Approval from UMBC Scholarships Now!
New Study Abroad Approval Option for 2018!
Scholars may have the option to
participate in a study abroad program for one semester and utilize their
scholarship for credit-worthy courses earned abroad. Any additional
semesters abroad require special review. Prior approval is required from a member of UMBC Scholarships and the Study
Abroad Office.
For approval, scholars must first meet with a representative from the UMBC Study Abroad Office.
Once
you have fulfilled the requirements at the Study Abroad Office, you may submit the Scholarships Study Abroad Approval Form in addition to the following items listed below to receive approval to use any merit scholarships abroad:
1) Signed Statement of Understanding (attached)
2) Study Abroad Budget Form (completed at the Study Abroad Office)
3) Acceptance Letter from the Program
4) Meyerhoff Study Abroad Request Form (Meyerhoff Scholars Only)
There is no additional meeting required with UMBC Scholarships. Approval Request may be e-mailed directly to
scholarships@umbc.edu Note. You must meet with your Financial Aid Counselor
for approval to receive any need-based aid.

We will be discussing how dropping and withdrawing affects your scholarship and some other fun things we have planned for you this semester!
