    <div class="html-content"><span><span><span>ATTENTION ALL STEM OR BUSINESS RISING SOPHOMORES:<br><br></span></span></span><p><span><span><span>Toyota Motor North America is looking for qualified candidates for <strong>The Jesse Jackson Fellows-Toyota Rainbow PUSH for Excellence Scholarship</strong>. The PUSH for Excellence Scholarship is a renewable scholarship that awards up to <strong>$75,000 each to 10 qualifying STEM and Business students</strong>
     over 3 years. Along with the financial assistance, applicants will also
     receive ​mentoring, a paid co-op internship experience at Toyota Motor 
    North America and the potential for future employment post-graduation.</span></span></span></p>In preparation for this scholarship, there will be <strong>two webinars</strong> to answer any questions prospective applicants may have about the scholarship on <strong>Thursday, April 5th and Thursday, April 12th from 6-8pm CST</strong>.     grade point average (GPA) </strong>and <strong>successfully complete at least 12+ credits (6+
    credits for transfer students) each semester</strong>. Since mid-terms are quickly
    approaching, we have provided you the following list of accessible resources on
    campus to ensure you successfully meet the terms of your scholarship

    success strategies.</span></p>
    
    <p><span><span>●<span>      </span></span></span><span>Utilize </span><a href="http://sss.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>Student Support and Tutoring Services</span></a><span> for peer and tutoring resources.</span></p>

    for learning assistance services. </span></p>

    The UMBC Merit Scholarships Office is preparing three, full-day events for newly admitted students and family members: <strong><em>Scholar Visit Day</em></strong>. All students attending have been offered General Merit Scholarships - just like you!<br>

    <div class="html-content">As indicated in students' scholarship agreement, all scholars must maintain 12+ credits (at least 6 credits for transfers) enrollment each semester in order to receive their scholarship. <Title>Study Abroad Approval for Scholars</Title>
<Tagline>Planning to Study Abroad for a semester?</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content">Scholars <em>may</em> have the option to 
    participate in a study abroad program for one semester and utilize their
     scholarship for credit-worthy courses earned abroad. Any additional 
    semesters abroad require special review. Prior approval is required from
     both the Office of Financial Aid &amp; Scholarships and the Study 
    Abroad Office.<br><br>In order to utilize your financial aid and/or merit scholarship awards, all UMBC students receiving any source of aid are required to meet with
     their Assigned Financial Aid Counselor at least 60 days prior to 
    departure.  Failure to do so may result in the loss or a hold on your account.<br><br>For approval, scholars must first meet with a representative from the UMBC <a href="https://studyabroad.umbc.edu/pre-departure/financial-aid-and-scholarship-transfer/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Study Abroad Office</a>.<br><br>Once you have fulfilled the requirements at the Study Abroad Office, you will need to schedule an appointment with your Assigned <a href="https://financialaid.umbc.edu/study-abroad/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Financial Aid counselor</a><u> to  complete the following:<br><br></u>1) Signed Statement of Understanding (attached)<br>2) Study Abroad Budget Form (completed at the Study Abroad Office)<br>3) Acceptance Letter from the Program<br>4) <span>Meyerhoff Study Abroad Request Form</span><strong> (<em>Meyerhoff Scholars Only</em>)<br></strong></div>

    <div class="html-content"><img src="http://www.same.org/Portals/0/logo-16869.png?ver=2015-06-08-212921-403" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><br>The purpose of the SAME Baltimore Post Scholarship and Educational 
    Outreach Fund is to provide financial assistance to: (1) deserving 
    college students to enable them to pursue their chosen course of study 
    in engineering, architecture, or related disciplines; (2) honorably 
    discharged veterans who have served our Nation for professional study 
    directly related to engineering, architecture, or related disciplines, 
    and (3) committee sponsored programs that promote the growth and 
    learning of junior high and high school students in Science, Technology,
     Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We accomplish this through 
    scholarships awarded to qualified students and veterans who are pursuing
     a baccalaureate degree in these fields. Our scholarship recipients are 
    selected on a merit-based approach.<br><br> Program awards scholarships in three categories - <strong>One-Year Scholarships</strong>, <strong>Four-Year Scholarships</strong> and <strong>Relative Scholarships</strong>. All scholarship awards are in the amount of $3,000 per academic year and are awarded during the first semester. <br><br><strong>Visit their website for additional information or download their 2018-19 application attached.</strong><br></div>

<Title>Fall 2017 Scholar Academic Reviews &amp; Appeals</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p>The Merit Scholarship Unit reviews scholars’ 
    academic standing each fall and spring semester to ensure they are 
    maintaining their scholarship requirements. Recipients failing to meet 
    these requirements will lose their scholarship and be notified by mail 
    of their award discontinuation. <br></p><p><em>(Only first-semester freshmen are granted an automatic “<strong>warning”</strong> period if they fail to meet their terms)</em>. <br></p><p>Once a scholar has been discontinued from their merit scholarship, their award <span><strong>will not</strong></span>
     be reinstated regardless if the student is  able to meet the terms of 
    their scholarship in a future semester.  <br></p>
    <p>Scholars with extenuating circumstances may appeal their scholarship discontinuation by submitting a <strong>Scholarship Discontinuation Appeal</strong>.</p><p><span><span><strong>The
     deadline for all Scholarship Discontinuation Appeals is 4:00PM on 
    Thursday, January 25, 2018 (for Fall 2017 discontinuations <span>only</span>)</strong></span>. </span>
    </p><p><em>Please note:</em> If the appeal is 
    denied or no appeal is submitted by the published deadline, the
