In 2005, Major Definition was established on the campus of University of Maryland, Baltimore County. For the Past 10 Years, we have been committed to the education of Hip Hop history and culture, fostering artistic talent, and expression through music and dance. Although we have a large presence in the UMBC community as “Those people that dance in commons!” We also have a huge presence in the D.C, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) Dance Community. We provide our support by hosting free public classes to all levels of dancers every Monday. Each class is taught by a different local and/or professional dancer. Our members get the full experience of traveling, competing, and showcasing their art both locally and in several different cities throughout the east coast. Members of our team also get free lessons in the fundamentals of hip hop, funk styles, and other styles of street dance. These lessons are taught by professionals and recognized dancers within our community. Through the experience they received with us, many of our Alumni have gone on to pursue a career in the dance and entertainment industry, rise as leaders in other dance teams, and have enriched the DMV dance community. In the past 10 years Major Def leaders, members, and alumni have been working to answer the question “Who are we?”. To put it simply we are Major Definition.
