Landscape Stewardship Committee

Attendees: Mary Rivkin, Sue Plitt, Tanvi Gadhia ,Roger Becks , Rusty Postlewate, Phillip Cho, Donna Anderson . Community Garden Club reps - Jack Neumeier, Julianna Brightman, Kelsey Donnellan, Jill Wrigley (INDS)
The Community Garden Club gave an update on the community garden progress through a PowerPoint presentation. The club had just attended an all day workshop where they toured and learned from other local and campus community gardens.
Garden presentation:
- 91 plot applications (representing hundreds of students)
- Service requirements met by garden work
- Lineham scholars
- McNair scholars
- Shriver Center service notation
- INDS LLC hall
- Chartwells is interested in the food grown, for special occasion features
- $10,000 from Prove it Grant, $14,000 from SGA
- Must spend SGA funding by June 30th
- ASB summer conference at CCBC- volunteer groups will help build
Phil Cho gave an update on the summer construction schedule showing the projects on the campus map. The summer construction map will be posted on line shortly.
Summer Construction
- Gateway project begins June 5 area between Administration and RAC will be fenced. New pedestrian paths will be signed . New arrangements for summer camp drop off have been made.
- New parking lot next to the Walker apartments to be completed end of August
- New standard light posts, on the Quad South project
- Library Pond anticipated for this fall (8-10 months)
- Westhill Apartments renovations will begin in August
- Performing Arts Phase II will open this summer
Side note - Forest Conservation Easement Area: 15 acres total, 11.544 acres added behind Terrace Apartments between outside of loop
