Dear LSAMP Community:
I am sure many of you have already heard about the great loss we have all experienced with the passing of Congressman Louis Stokes on Tuesday, August 18th. He was a true champion of students of color in STEM. This is the reason why the national Alliances for Minority Participation program was renamed in his honor in 1999, the year he retired from Congress. The legacy of his tremendous impact will be long-lasting. Here is one of the stories featuring him in the USA Today:

Please keep his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
