The Diversity Summer Internship Program (DSIP) at the Bloomberg School of Public Health is a 10-week summer program that provides undergraduates with a graduate-level, independent research project in the biomedical or public health field.

Students work under the direct mentoring of accomplished Johns Hopkins researchers, gaining valuable experience in a collaborative, challenging and fun environment.

The Diversity Summer Internship Program welcomes applicants from all over the United States, including underrepresented and economically disadvantaged areas. Starting November 1, 2012, visit the Diversity Summer Internship Program’s online application page to begin filling out an application.

4. Visit the Career Center or Shriver Center to make sure your resume is the best it can be for this purpose. 
5. Make sure you are a member of the myUMBC group Undergraduate Research so you receive notices about application deadlines and application support. 
   

The "Hands-On, Minds-On" research experience for undergraduates (REU) brings together faculty and staff from a variety of different disciplines, departments, and offices at Virginia Tech. Ten students will be selected from national four-year colleges and universities and within the Virginia Community College System to participate in a 10-week National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates Program.

Participants will:

• Have both a "hands-on" as well as a "minds-on" set of experiences, designed to immerse students in a variety of engaging ways in the research process and the begin the development of a research identity.
• Develop a strong understanding of interdisciplinary research
• Become part of a collaborative research community
• Receive $5,000 stipend, free housing (with three meals per day) on campus and travel support to/from Virginia Tech
• Have access to the library, computers, and recreational facilities

Entering its seventh year, the Amgen-UROP Scholars Program invites undergraduates to participate in faculty-mentored summer research at MIT in the science and biotechnology areas.

Students admitted to this program (known as “Amgen Scholars”) will have opportunities to conduct research, analyze data, present research results, network with other undergraduates with similar research interests, and develop working relationships with MIT faculty mentors and other research staff.

Participation has many benefits. Amgen Scholars learn how to collaborate effectively in research settings while investigating areas of research interest within a specific discipline and gaining practical skills and knowledge for both graduate study and post-graduation careers. Participants become fully integrated in MIT’s summer research community, interacting with faculty mentors and fellow undergraduates while participating in research seminars and other networking events. Most importantly, Amgen Scholars become involved in exciting research and contribute to the advancement of science in an area of interest.

The Program also offers a competitive compensation package. Amgen Scholars working 40 hours per week for the nine week period will earn $4,600, based on an hourly wage of $12.78. Housing in a designated MIT residence hall and a $800 food allowance will also be provided.

Space in the the Amgen-UROP Scholars Program is limited; up to 25 undergraduates will be admitted for Summer 2013.

If you have an idea - or even if you don’t have an idea - you should consider research! The URA Program offers a support system, but ultimately provides you with the independence and freedom to do whatever you want.
