Get Paid for Chemical Sensing and Imaging Research!
UMBC's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is offering a 10-week summer research program in chemical sensing and imaging on campus!
**Students will receive a stipend $5,000 for the ten-week period as well as on-campus housing.
Students will:
- Be able to attend professional training workshops
- Obtain research experience in leading UMBC laboratories

Eligibility:
- Students must be US Citizens or permanent residents
- Demonstrate strong interest in chemistry and related science and engineering fields
- Must have completed at least freshman chemistry, organic chemistry lecture, and laboratory courses

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is funding Kansas State University for their 10-week summer research program in chemical engineering.
**Students will receive a stipend $5,000 for the ten-week period as well as $2,500 for food and housing.
**Students will also receive travel expenses if needed to attend conferences when presenting their research
Students will:
- Receive faculty mentors from the fields of chemical engineering, electrical engineering, geology, and chemistry
- Attend weekly research seminars and give reports on their projects
- Present their findings on the last day at a final poster session
- Attend a sustainability seminar on sustainable energy, its production and impact
- Participate in a group outreach project related to sustainability
- Have field trips and social activities relevant to sustainable energy
Program Date: May 31- August 5, 2016
Application Deadline:Preference will be given to applications received by February 19th, 2016

Undergraduates will gain vital skills in computer modeling, field methods, and/or experimental design by doing independent projects.
Students will receive a stipend of $450/week for the 10 week program ($4,500), as well as having housing provided on-campus and a travel allowance.
The program runs from June 1 - August 6 and the deadline for the program is March 1.

Summer REU in Multimedia Data Analytics

Undergraduates interested in Computer Science are encouraged to apply to this NSF funded REU. Students must have a solid mathematical background and be proficient in C++. Students selected for the program will be contributing to the department's research and will gain an understanding of what it's like to have a career in research. Calling all majors! Collaborative Data Visualization REU!
Students interested in visualization check this REU out!
The Purdue Polytechnic Institute Computer Graphics Technology Department invites students from all majors with an interest in visualization to apply to this REU. The program is looking for students with interests in visualization from technical and non-technical backgrounds. Students will be assigned to an REU consisting of a research collaborator, visualization mentor, and an REU student. The program offers hands-on interdisciplinary research in visualization while also gaining skills in networking, writing, and presentations."Research areas of this site include (but is not limited to):
Computer
science, genetics and biochemistry, geophysics, sociology, molecular
modeling and simulation, inorganic chemistry, social media, parks
recreation tourism management, biological sciences, athletics and
digital humanities, to name a few."
Students would receive a round trip travel allowance, lodging in the campus dorms (Purdue University), and a stipend of $4,000.

Positions Available: 1-2
Duties: To provide research support for Dr. King-Meadows.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: data entry; finding assigned
journal articles, newspaper articles, and books; preparing typed
summaries of journal articles, newspaper articles, and books; running
errands to AOK library and to other units on campus; photocopying,
scanning and faxing, sending emails, preparing outgoing mail; typing
documents; making phone calls; compiling documents and correspondence;
attendance at weekly project meetings and participation in library
research training; preparation and submission of final research report
on activities; work on special projects and perform other duties as
assigned.
Required skills: Research skill would be helpful, but will
train. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, familiar with
Excel and Microsoft Word. General office experience required. Key
Competencies include organizing and planning, prioritizing, attention to
detail and accuracy, problem-solving, adaptability, teamwork, and
written and oral communication skills.
Duration: 11 weeks
Hours per week: 8
Pay range: $8.50

Retaining Engineers Through Research Entrepreneurship and Advanced-materials Training (RETREAT)
The High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI) at the Florida State University is hosting a summer training program in Nanomaterials and Processing Engineering. The Diversity in Research and Engineering of Advanced Materials (DREAM) Training program, sponsored by the Air Force Research Lab Munitions Directorate (AFRL RW) at Eglin Air Force Base, will provide provide undergraduate and GRADUATE U.S. citizens from the under-represented groups in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines, the opportunity to enhance their research experience in Science and Engineering.
The selected participants will work on research projects requested by the AFRL RW. These projects will include research on nanomaterials, multiscale composite fabrication, and developmental work on intrinsic structural health monitoring through triboluminescence.
The 10-week program is scheduled for May 30th - August 5th, 2016 at the Materials Research Building in Tallahassee Florida!
Stipends (which include a travel allowance), and lodging, will be provided to the selected interns.
Applications are now being accepted!

- US citizenship or permanent residents
- This program is open only to African-Americans
- Selection will be based on academic performance and faculty recommendation
