On May 17th, a group of UMBC faculty and students, including Dr. Moffitt, Shawntay Stocks and Sherella Cupid, were invited to attend a pre-screening of the re-imagined Roots at the White House. The event entitled, ROOTS at the White House, Exploring Our Past, Looking To the Future included two panel discussions: "Your Name is Your Shield-How People Today Are Finding Their Roots," and "The Meaning of Roots: 1977 and Today," and a screening of episode one of Roots.The event concluded with a reception with the cast and crew of Roots.
