We are proud to share Ibrahim’s latest academic contribution to the Sound and the Screen Symposium at the University of West London (London, UK) on November 20th, 2015.
Ibrahim presented the paper "A Funnier Monk: Rhetoric of Music in TV Series Adaptations”. He focused on the use of music in cross-culturally adapted TV series, and its effect on viewers' perceptions in light of two concrete examples from two particular scenes. In these scenes, the politics of Turkish culture and the power relationships between characters are depicted not only by the visual and spatial configurations in the frame or scene, but are also implicitly constructed through the musical score, which influences the viewers’ perceptions of the same scene(s) in the two versions.
Congratulations, Ibrahim!
