The Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio (coehd.utsa.edu), a recognized Hispanic Serving Institution, invites applicants for one specialist (staff) position beginning immediately.
Responsibilities include overseeing research activities of La Plaza de Lectura (reading clinic) and the San Antonio Writing Project (SAWP), seeking and obtaining external funding for research and activities of La Plaza and the SAWP and the math initiative, design and conduct literacy and literacy education research and community outreach activities, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education, conduct ongoing evaluation of La Plaza and the SAWP.
Required qualifications include
- a Master’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction, literacy, or a closely related field
- knowledge of ethical guidelines for research
- knowledge of literacy standards as set forth by professional and governmental organizations
- at least three years classroom experience
- at least one year supervisory responsibilities
- demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to work independently and diplomatically
- criminal background clearance
- a valid teaching certificate.
Preferred qualifications include
(a) a doctoral degree in education, curriculum and instruction, literacy, or a closely related field; and
(b) three years clinical reading experience.
