Dear Student Affairs Colleagues and Student Life Mosaic Center Faculty/Staff Partners,
As you know, our 21st Century global society has become increasingly diverse. Many of our students, despite being open to that diversity, still need to increase their cultural competencies - the skills and awareness related to communication and interaction across all social identities.
Student Life's Mosaic Center staff are creating a new Mosaic Center Diversity Presenters group to help develop this important life and interaction skill set within our students. This group, an outgrowth of our former Diversity Education Intern program, is the next evolution in our diversity and social justice education efforts. To prepare to launch this new initiative, this fall we are offering diversity "train the trainer" sessions to students, faculty and staff interested in serving as diversity and social justice education presenters. Our first 3 hour training for UMBC staff and faculty (and selected students) will be:

We are pursuing a co-presenter/co-facilitators structure in which we hope to pair UMBC faculty and staff with students to present workshops to classes, student organizations and departments across campus by request. So, staff and faculty will most likely be paired with students to serve as lead "mentor" presenters to support the awareness, knowledge and skill development of the student presenters. We envision offering workshops to the campus in the same fashion as our Safe Zone program sessions.
We've received several student interest forms for the training already. We really could use more faculty/staff participants! So, thank you for considering this opportunity.
