Design historian Beverly Payeff Masey will document the intersection of post-WWII American Modernism with the international political and cultural realities of the Cold War through her talk, "Designing America's Face in the Cold War." Beverly will present the work of Buckminister Fuller, Charles and Ray Eames, Chermayeff & Geismar, and George Nelson as well as other architects and design professionals who worked on behalf of the United States International Agency in creating the American presence at international expos and World's Fairs beginning in 1958. This lecture is part of BaltimoreAIA's architecture month.

The CADVC will screen Mina Chow's film, "Face of a Nation: What Happened to the World's Fair" which explores the controversy surrounding American participation in World's Fairs. Mina's film has been presented at a number of film festivals so it's a treat to show this on campus. We're delighted that Mina will join us.
