UMBC students  and PostDoc are invited to take advantage of free landlord and tenant legal consultations offered through Retriever Support Services in partnership with the Maryland Pro Bono Resource Center. These 15-minute sessions provide valuable legal advice at no cost and are available on Tuesday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 28, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This service is a great opportunity for students navigating housing issues to get guidance from legal professionals. For questions or more information, students can contact Dr. Griselda Flores at gflores@umbc.edu, and appointments can be scheduled using the QR code provided in the flyer.

Due to the high demand,  more appointment slots opened up for May 13. Please contact Dr. Griselda Flores at gflores@umbc.edu, directly to schedule a spot for May 13.

Pro bono lawyers will be available to offer free legal advice to all students! This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are seeking guidance on leases, tenant rights, and other related legal matters.

Retriever Support Services (RSS) serves as a referral source and entry point for all students, undergraduate and graduate, who experience social, basic needs, and emotional barriers to obtaining their individual and educational goals.

RSS, in collaboration with campus partners, fosters an accessible and meaningful educational experience; prioritizing student care and well-being.

In addition, students are encouraged to follow Retriever Support Services here to stay informed about resources from the Care Team, updates on basic student needs, and off-campus support services.

These 15-minute sessions provide valuable legal advice at no cost and are available on Tuesday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 28, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This service is a great opportunity for students navigating housing issues to get guidance from legal professionals. Pro bono lawyers will be available to offer free legal advice to all students! This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are seeking guidance on leases, tenant rights, and other related legal matters.

Retriever Support Services (RSS) serves as a referral source and entry point for all students, undergraduate and graduate, who experience social, basic needs, and emotional barriers to obtaining their individual and educational goals.

RSS, in collaboration with campus partners, fosters an accessible and meaningful educational experience; prioritizing student care and well-being.

The UMBC Department of Education Research Seminar concludes the spring semester with a presentation by Dr. Christine Mallinson, Professor in the Language, Literacy, and Culture doctoral program and Assistant Vice President for Research and Scholarly Impact.  In this presentation, Professor Mallinson illustrates equity-oriented models for linguistic research with examples from her own interdisciplinary and collaborative work that has expanded public understanding of language and helped sustain linguistic diversity in schools and communities. She offers strategies and action steps for other scholars of language and education who aim to connect community-engaged work with teaching and research for broad scholarly as well as social and public impact.

All members of the department, partners/collaborators, and students/faculty from other departments and institutions are invited to attend.  Lunch will be provided.  Please RSVP by as soon as possible.
