On the night before my very first day of classes at UMBC, I decided to go to Big Crazy Fun Night. Being the proactive individual that I am, I ended up getting there about a half hour early. While I was sitting on Main Street, waiting for the fun to begin, I noticed a guy tying balloons to the rails. Having nothing better to do, I went over and offered to help. Little did I know that the guy was none other than Jason Palumbo, a member of the (seb) board. Thirty minutes later, I was running one of the games at Big Crazy Fun Night, and within a few weeks I was a member of (seb). The moral of the story? People do notice when you take the initiative, so do yourself a favor and step up to the plate.

Co-Create UMBC is a blog for and about UMBC, written by David Hoffman and Craig Berger from the Office of Student Life.
