    <div class="html-content">The Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership (TLPL)at the University of Maryland is seeking to fill two positions at either the <strong>Assistant or Associate Professor</strong> levels. We seek individuals with cross-cutting expertise in one or more of the following specializations: Minority and Urban Education, Social Studies Education, and Curriculum Theory. We are especially interested in candidates who bring a critical and/or a discipline-based perspective to the study of education problems and issues, and who provide evidence of the potential for outstanding research and teaching. Below, you will find information about volunteering or becoming part of the instructional faculty for the Goucher Prison Education Partnership (GPEP), serving the learning needs of students who are incarcerated. <span><strong>This SUNDAY</strong></span>, November 23, 2014, please consider attending the information session for prospective instructors and volunteers.</p>
    <p>The Goucher Prison Education Partnership (GPEP) offers Goucher College courses and college preparatory courses to students at two Maryland prisons.</p>
    <p><strong>If you are interested in working with GPEP during the Spring 2015 semester, be sure to attend this information session: </strong></p>

    <p><strong>Volunteer positions include:</strong></p>
    <ol>
    <li><strong>Tutors:</strong> Tutors commit to at least one evening of tutoring per week for the full semester and attend several tutor trainings on the main campus. Tutors should be able to assist with academic writing (across the disciplines), math (PreAlgebra, Algebra I &amp; Algebra II, Statistics, Precalculus, and/or Calculus) and/or Intermediate to advances Spanish language (speaking, reading and writing). The ideal candidate is someone with demonstrated success in advanced academic work with some teaching or tutoring experience.  Next semester, tutoring will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30 pm. *<span>Faculty, staff, undergraduate upperclassmen, graduate students, and other adult professionals from the Baltimore community are invited to apply for this role.*</span> (Goucher students: Current and former writing tutors and SIs are strongly encouraged to apply.)</li>
    <li><strong>Research assistants:</strong> Research assistants serve as a bridge to key academic resources, gathering materials needed by incarcerated students to complete research papers and other academic projects. These assistants work closely with a specific professor and carefully follow institutional and programmatic guidelines regarding materials brought to the prisons. The ideal candidate should be conscientious, a problem solver, and able to work independently.</li>
    <li><strong>Administrative Help:</strong> A small number of volunteers provide administrative support. This work includes creating student files, assisting with various types of communications, data entry, and other tasks. Candidates should be detail oriented and willing to pitch in where needed. Familiarity with Excel a plus. (Administrative help takes place on Goucher’s main campus, not at the prisons.)</li>
    </ol>
    <p><strong>Prospective Faculty: </strong></p>
    <p>We also seek faculty interested in leading Goucher college and college preparatory courses at the prisons. We have a particular need for skilled math faculty at this time. Selected faculty typically lead a single course and are paid.</p>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The Education Studies Program at Berea College is seeking applications for a tenure-track, 9-month position in <em>Reading/Literacy Education</em>, at the rank of Assistant Professor.</div><div><br></div><div>Responsibilities include teaching courses in reading/literacy, contributing to program development and assessment, advising and mentoring students, and engaging in scholarship and service that contributes to the institution and profession. The program is seeking individuals who are committed to culturally responsive instructional practices.     <div class="html-content"><div>The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Access of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites to the 3rd Annual Faculty Women of Color in the Academy Conference.</div><div><br></div><div>This year’s conference offers women of color faculty, university administrators, post-docs, and graduate students a unique educational and professional opportunity to network, engage, and learn with peers from around the country. The two-day conference includes separate tracks for graduate students and faculty members and features prominent and well-known women of color scholars as keynote speakers, panelists, and workshop facilitators. </div><div><br></div><div>The keynote speakers of the 2015 conference are <strong><a href="http://www.brandeis.edu/facultyguide/person.html?emplid=e69d2f368b67d963832f9d1d8a5b8a07c6e976d5" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Anita Hill</a></strong>, Professor of Social Policy, Law, and Women’s Studies in The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and <strong><a href="http://www.facultydiversity.org/?page=staff" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Kerry Ann Rockquemore</a></strong>, President and CEO of the National Center for Faculty Development &amp; Diversity.     <div>Since 2008, Lori Jankalski is the Executive Vice President of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Maryland and Delaware, Inc., (CCCS) a 501 (c) (3) non-profit credit and housing counseling organization that was founded in 1966.CCCS’s missionis to stabilize communities by creating hope and promoting economic self-sufficiency to individuals and families through financial education and counseling.CCCS provides services nationwide.</div>
    <div><br>Lori retired in 2008 from Equifax Credit Information Services Inc., a national credit reporting agency after 40 years in various management positions. At the time of her retirement Lori was the Senior Executive Director of Credit Marketing Services and Analytics. Lori is a graduate of the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. Lori is a lifelong resident of Maryland and currently resides with her family in Sparks, MD.</div>

    <p><em>The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) has been selected to participate in an “Enhancing Student Financial Education” project for 2013-2015. Chosen as one of 15 awardees in a national competition, UMBC received a grant from the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), a non-profit organization (<a href="http://www.cgsnet.org">www.cgsnet.org</a>) dedicated to advancing graduate education and research. Funded by a grant from TIAA-CREF, a leading financial services organization, CGS will develop models for providing financial education resources that help undergraduate and graduate students manage their money and hone their financial and debt management skills.   </em></p>

    <div>Since 2008, Lori Jankalski is the Executive Vice President of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Maryland and Delaware, Inc., (CCCS) a 501 (c) (3) non-profit credit and housing counseling organization that was founded in 1966.CCCS’s missionis to stabilize communities by creating hope and promoting economic self-sufficiency to individuals and families through financial education and counseling.CCCS provides services nationwide.</div>
    <div><br>Lori retired in 2008 from Equifax Credit Information Services Inc., a national credit reporting agency after 40 years in various management positions. At the time of her retirement Lori was the Senior Executive Director of Credit Marketing Services and Analytics. Lori is a graduate of the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. Lori is a lifelong resident of Maryland and currently resides with her family in Sparks, MD.</div>

    <p><em>The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) has been selected to participate in an “Enhancing Student Financial Education” project for 2013-2015. Chosen as one of 15 awardees in a national competition, UMBC received a grant from the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), a non-profit organization (<a href="http://www.cgsnet.org">www.cgsnet.org</a>) dedicated to advancing graduate education and research. Funded by a grant from TIAA-CREF, a leading financial services organization, CGS will develop models for providing financial education resources that help undergraduate and graduate students manage their money and hone their financial and debt management skills.   </em></p>
    <p><em><strong>GoLIVE! Seminars:</strong> UMBC will develop “Go Live” seminars that will showcase financial literacy resources on a new, interactive website. The online topics and segments will be coupled with “live” seminars that will be held throughout the year. Seminar topics include: Graduate Funding, Improving Credit Ratings, Financial Transitions, Life-long, Financial Planning, Budgets, and more. </em></p>

    <div class="html-content"><div>The Dresher Center for the Humanities and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) invites applications for 2015 Summer Faculty Research Fellowships (SFRF). Funding is intended to support and promote significant humanities research at UMBC. Dresher Center Summer Research Fellows (individuals or groups) will receive support for summer research and assistance in developing extramural funding applications, book proposals, and grant project applications. Funding may also be used for the completion of book manuscripts, major articles, or projects of a similar stature.</div><div><br></div><div>Proposals are welcome and will be considered from all full-time, tenure-track UMBC faculty pursuing humanities research in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
