Dozens of nominations from
journal editors across the field were received and were sent to reading groups
across the US, with over 100 people participating in reading nominations and ranking
them. 10 articles were chosen to be featured. Shenita's article is the first
book review to be selected for the Best Of series and it was nominated due
to her pushing boundaries of writing.

We are hosting a series on Intercultural Competency; this discussion/training series focuses on giving you tools to understand other cultures better, facilitate your interactions with persons from different backgrounds, and prepare you for success in your future career!
We will be discussing Intercultural Awareness, Intercultural Dialogue, and Intercultural Competence. With this training series, we hope to expand on your intercultural talents and share the knowledge, skills, and behavior necessary to function effectively and appropriately in intercultural environments to have better and more fruitful relationships in a globalized school and workplace.

GAAC (Graduate Assistant Advisory Committee) is looking for committee members. We are seeking graduate students who are dedicated to the service of our beloved graduate student community, who are forward thinkers, and who have good interpersonal skills.
This is not an exhaustive list, but includes some of the responsibilities of GAAC committee members which are to:
1. Coordinate and help arrange events.
2. Help gather information through surveys and present survey outcomes through reports.
3. Attend bi-weekly meetings and/or meetings with the Graduate School when scheduled.
4. Help circulate news/announcements in different departments at campus.

Congratulations to Romy Huebler, LLC PhD 2015, on her appointment as Director of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility at Towson University beginning in August.
Since 2018, as assistant and then associate director of UMBC's Center for Democracy and Civic Life, Romy has been directly involved in creating and leading every aspect of the Center’s work.
