A large period of activism on the UMBC campus involved Vietnam war protests in the late 60s and early 70s. Both students and faculty at UMBC campaigned and protested against the war in a variety of ways including a "Teach-In," where faculty and students discussed the pros and cons of the war, various multi-day moratoriums in conjunction with the surrounding community, and participation in the nationwide Work for Peace, a national demonstration of anti-Vietnam war sentiment.
