Appreciating Differences in a Changing World: A Unique Musical Experience to Strengthen CommUNITY
(Monday, February 13, 2017 UC Ballroom 2:00pm - 4:30pm)
From Jill Weinknecht-Wardell

Department of Human Resources
This is a unique opportunity for our entire community and I am hoping to pull in students as equally as our faculty and staff. I know there are a lot of faculty and staff on the OutList who work primarily with students and I am hoping they would be willing to spread the word to this population as I'd venture to say it's the population experiencing the most fear at the moment.
Given our current cultural and political landscape, it is understandable that upset, fear, and uncertainty is present on campus for all of us (faculty, staff, and particularly students). This concert will be an opportunity to acknowledge these concerns and find ways to collectively come together in a new dialogue of possibility.
Bob Sima is an incredibly talented conscious singer-songwriter with a message of inclusion, appreciation, and helps listeners traverse the seemingly insurmountable cultural and political divide of our nation and in the world.
We are thrilled to have an opportunity to bring him to campus on February 13th and feel this interactive concert with facilitated dialogue will open hearts and minds, heal wounds, and provide the tools needed to strengthen our community understanding and appreciation for each other (particularly those who are different from us). My hunch is that his message would resonate with our population's mindset and core values and I would love for them to hear about it.
