JCET’s Dr. Ali Tokay and Valerie Casasanto interacted with guests at UMBC’s 50th anniversary event on Saturday, September 17, 2016, on UMBC’s campus. They showed people the “Dynamic Planet” -- an interactive sphere projecting visualizations of NASA and NOAA Earth Science data. The program was in collaboration with the Geography and Environmental Systems (GES) Department (http://ges.umbc.edu/), and organized and operated by GES faculty member and JCET fellow, Dr. Jeffrey Halverson. Hundreds of visitors came through the “Dynamic Planet” tent and asked questions of the scientists who were describing many Earth Science phenomena on the sphere.
