UMBC JCET's Chris Shuman and Mike Schnaubelt have contributed to ongoing research about Greenland temperature events as recently posted on blogs hosted by NOAA and NSIDC. By updating the Summit Station air temperature record for 2013, the unusual warmth of major melt events in July 2012 can be readily seen (http://jcet.umbc.edu/?id=18072). Despite some warm periods, far less melt has been seen across Greenland in the much more typical weather of the summer of 2013. Recent record warmth at a coastal weather station in Greenland is discussed further at these links.
