<Title>Open Position: Student VR Programmer</Title>

<Title>Open Position: MapTu Programming Intern</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span><p>The Imaging Research Center &lt;<a href="https://irc.umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">https://irc.umbc.edu</a>&gt; is looking for undergraduate computer science student programmers to enroll in independent study to assist in the development of MapTu. Students will work 8 hours a week during the semester and earn 3 credits. Students will be assigned work based on their skill level. Students will gain experience in developing an large software project on a team.</p><p>
    MapTu &lt;<a href="https://maptu.irc.umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">https://maptu.irc.umbc.edu</a>&gt; is a multi-user real-time collaborative tool to map ideas in 3D space. It can be used to construct complex 3D scenes as well as to visualize big data in real-time. Users will be able to use the software to construct a 3D scene by uploading their own 3D models, images, videos, sound, etc and arranging them as desired within a 3D scene that can be shared with other users. MapTu is currently a work in progress.</p><p>
    Duties:
    </p><ul><li>Design and develop software applications.</li><li>Engineer solutions to solve problems.</li><li>Maintain existing codebases.</li><li>Assist in ongoing projects.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p>
    Requirements:
    </p><ul><li>Ability to program in Python, JavaScript.</li><li>Knowledge of web technologies: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Php, Postgres, Vue.js, AFrame</li><li>Quick learner.</li><li>Able to work well in groups.</li><li>Excellent troubleshooting skills.</li><li>Excellent communication skills.</li><li>Available to work 8 hours a week.</li><li>Active UMBC Student.</li></ul><p>

<Title>Scan Your Stuff Days</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span><p><span>Do you have a special object that you would like to preserve in digital form?  Do you want to contribute to research into 3D scanning and modeling? </span><span><br></span><span><br></span><span>On April 7 and 8, the Imaging Research Center is holding public scanning sessions, using the Photogrammetry rig on the first floor of the ITE Building.  Our rig uses 94 cameras to capture an object from every side and angle, all in one simultaneous shot.  Bring your object -- as long as it is bigger than a basketball and smaller than a carry-on suitcases -- to the IRC and we will scan it while you wait.  We will give you a copy of the scans, which you can then use to create a 3D model, suitable for use online or in 3D printing.  Your scans will also form a dataset for ongoing IRC research.<br></span><span><br></span></p><p><span>When:  </span><span></span><span>Friday April 7, 12-4<br></span><span></span><span></span><span>Saturday April 8, 10-2<br></span><span><br></span></p><p><span>Where:  ITE 109<br></span><span><br></span></p><p><span>Questions:  410-455-3373 or </span><a href="mailto:info@irc.umbc.edu" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>info@irc.umbc.edu<br></span></a><span><br></span></p><p><span>No appointment necessary!  Just come on by!</span></p></span><span><div><span><br></span></div></span></div>
