    <div class="html-content"><div>Submit a proposal for a concurrent session at the upcoming <a href="https://www.usmd.edu/cai/2023-maryland-oer-summit-cultivating-agency-through-open-educational-practices" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">2023 Maryland OER Summit: Cultivating Agency through Open Educational Practices</a>. </div><div><br></div><div>At the core of our conference theme is the question: What happens when students and their collaborators -- peers, faculty, community members, librarians, and more -- drive knowledge creation? </div><div><br></div><div>The event seeks proposals that contribute to this conversation and showcase innovative approaches to open educational practices that empower learners to be active creators of knowledge and contributors to a more inclusive and equitable world. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Session Formats</strong></div><div><ol><li><span>Concurrent sessions are 45 minutes long and will have the following formats:  </span></li><li><span>"Lightning" Talks: 15 min presentation, 5 min Q &amp; A each, 2 presenters per 45-minute session. clustered by theme or topic. Propose one talk and we'll match you with another or join with a colleague to propose a set of two related 15-minute talks. </span></li><li><span>Panel Discussion: 45-minute panels with 3-4 panelists speaking about a particular topic, issue, or instance of open pedagogy, Panel sessions will include at least 5 minutes for Q&amp;A at the end and one panelist should plan on moderating the session.</span></li><li><span>Participatory Workshops: 45-minute workshops that include a plan for participant interaction.  </span></li><li><span>"Unconference" sessions: 45-minute sessions with a format and facilitation of your choice. </span></li></ol></div><div><div>Review the <a href="https://www.usmd.edu/cai/sites/default/files/Call%20for%20Proposals%20Open%20Ed.%20Practices%20FINAL.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Call for Proposals</a> (pdf).</div><div><br></div><div><strong>About the Summit</strong></div><div>Date: Friday, December 1, 2023</div><div>Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm ET</div><div>Location: Salisbury University</div><div>Special Networking Reception: Thursday, November 30, 6:00 - 7:30 pm  </div><div><br></div><div>This one-day summit will bring together educators, students, librarians, instructional designers, and administrators from across Maryland postsecondary institutions to explore the dynamic world of open pedagogy. <Title>Free Virtual Conference: UMD Disability Summit, April 12-14</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><span>In the wake of the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act many are questioning how to continue to carry this energy forward. How can we foreground access in crisis? There are many skills that we need to carry into the "new normal" which must center intersectional applications of racial and disability justice. <br></span></p><p><span>The <a href="https://pcdi.umd.edu/summit-home" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">4th University of Maryland (UMD) Disability Summit</a> will be held </span><span>April 12th-14th, 2021</span><span> via Twitch, YouTube Livestream, and Zoom. </span><span>The goal of the summit is to bring focus to and promote discussion of key current events and research impacting disability in society.</span></p><div><span>The </span><a href="https://pcdi.umd.edu/summit-history" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">University of Maryland Disability Summit</a><span> was established in 2016 as a forum for professionals, educators, academics, service providers, allies, and advocates focusing on disability issues to dialogue and collaborate across types of disability and institutions. </span><span>All submissions</span><span> are peer-reviewed</span><span> by a committee of students, faculty, and staff who represent a range of areas of expertise and experience with disability issues. </span></div><div><em><span><br></span></em></div><div><em><span><span>Please </span><span>register</span><span> for the conference at </span><a href="http://go.umd.edu/2021registration" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">go.umd.edu/2021registration</a><span> and share</span></span><span> your vision of inclusive and accessible resources, skills and actions.</span></em></div><p><br></p></div>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Registration is now open for the <a href="https://www.usmd.edu/cai/most-2021-state-summit" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">2021 M.O.S.T. State Summit</a>, which will take place virtually April 8-9, 2021.</div><div><br></div><div>The theme of the 2021 conference is <strong>Using OER to Advance Equity and Inclusion</strong>. The COVID-19 pandemic and continuing patterns of racialized violence have brought to the forefront inequities in educational access, preparation, and experiences on our campuses. How might the use of open educational resources (OER) advance equity and inclusion at our postsecondary institutions and statewide? </div><div><br></div><div>Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from presenters from across Maryland on how they are tackling these issues and building, growing, evaluating, and sustaining their OER initiatives. Keynote presentations will feature Angela Debarger, Program Officer, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and Maha Bali, Associate Professor of Practice at the Center for Learning and Teaching at the American University in Cairo.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://www.usmd.edu/cai/most-2021-state-summit" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Register online</a>. <span>There is no cost to attend this Summit. </span></div></div>
