Dear members of the campus community,
I am writing to inform you that we have begun a national search for the UMBC’s permanent Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) in order to identify a worthy successor who can build upon Dean Lee’s legacy and decades of service to our community.
Dr. Scott Casper, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and Professor of History, has kindly agreed to chair the search committee. Under Dean Casper’s leadership, I have appointed a search committee and the names of the members of the committee are listed below. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each of the committee members for both their willingness to serve and their commitment in agreeing to take on this critical institutional responsibility.
In the coming weeks the committee will reach out to the University to receive input on the desired personal and professional characteristics of our new Vice Provost and Dean in order to develop the criteria that will guide the search and selection process. The committee will also share with our community the progress of the search over the coming months. I know that all of us will do what we can to support the committee in their execution of this important task.
