    <div class="html-content">Food is allowed in AOK Library and the RLC.  Drinks are too, but in a covered container please!  We do ask that you avoid pricey equipment like photocopiers, printers, computers, microform readers, the Digital Media Lab, and Special Collections.<br><br>Spills sometimes happen - please clean up as best you can and alert library staff so they can check books and furniture for damage. Paper towels are available in the bathroom if you need them.<br><br>And when you’re finished, toss your trash in a bin!  There are several on each floor.  Happy studying!<br><br></div>

These scholarships are recognized as some of the most prestigious in the world, and their purpose is to develop outstanding students into leaders whose research and careers will have far-reaching impacts on the world.</span><div><span><br></span></div><div><p>UMBC provides direct support to students seeking to apply for nationally competitive scholarships. If you are interested in applying for one of these opportunities, you are required to upload a dossier which includes your current transcripts, resume, personal statement (if you have one already written), a short statement about your future academic and career plans, and a short statement about why you want to pursue this scholarship. Once this is received, you will be contacted to set up an in-person appointment to meet with Dr. April Householder. <Title>Self-serve book scanner available in Special Collections!</Title>

    pleased to introduce the new Scannx Book ScanCenter to our researchers.
    Researchers will now be able to scan books and documents on their own and save
    it to their USB drive free of charge!</span></p>

    <p><span>The Scannx Book Scanner
    is a drop edge (or zero edge) scanner that allows you to scan documents flat or
    to scan bound materials like books without damaging the spine. Please show the
    items you wish to scan <a href="http://library.umbc.edu/speccoll/index.php" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Special Collections</a> staff who will evaluate the
    condition of the material.  If it’s not
    too fragile, we’ll show you how to do the scanning – it’s easy! </span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><img src="//library.umbc.edu/speccoll/img/scannx.png" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>I have had the
    opportunity to use the Scanner and I found it user-friendly, quick and easy to
    use. Its large friendly buttons guide the user through scan process from
    choosing file formats, to scan quality, color depth, file naming and
    destinations. It has ample flatbed surface and every page comes back is crisp
    and clear. It provides high quality scans and converts scanned images into PDF,
    searchable PDF, Word, TIFF, or PNG file formats automatically. </span><span>We’ll show you how to scan things without damaging them and making sure they stay in their proper order,
    and instructions for its use can also be found next to the workstation.  Make sure to bring your own USB drive!</span></p>

    <div class="html-content">If you’ve got too much to carry, consider stashing some of your books in a locker!  The AOK Library has lockers that can be checked out on a daily or semester-ly basis (for free!).<br><br>​<strong>Daily lockers</strong> are available to UMBC students, faculty, and staff for a 24 hour period. Stop at the Check Out desk to pick up a key.  <br><br><strong>Semester lockers</strong> can be reserved for an entire semester at a time (Spring or Fall). Interested UMBC students, faculty and staff, please fill out the <a href="http://library.umbc.edu/studyrooms/lockers/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Locker Application Form</a>.<br>            <br><strong>Please note:</strong><br><ul><li>Materials kept in lockers and locker keys are the responsibility of the user.
