The campus lost power at roughly 2:00 today, the outage is campus wide and we are not sure of the cause. I'll let you all know when I hear more.

The entire ILSB will have water drained from most systems this Saturday Jan 16th to repair the incoming domestic water line which has a serious leak in a six inch main in the mechanical room. 

This will affect water to restrooms and drinking fountains along with water supply in laboratories. RO systems including those in the vivarium and chilled water loops will not be affected.

I'm still waiting on the length of the outage to be confirmed, but 6 to 8 hours is not out of the question. 

Please make sure to plan your weekend accordingly and I'll let everyone know additional details as I get them.

I just wanted to give you all a heads up that there may be filming in the lobby / atrium of the building on Thursday morning. There should be little disruption of day to day operations. 

Jaclyn from Steris will be in the building today starting around noon to do preventive maintenance on the autoclaves. She will be starting in the Vivarium and then work her way up to the 4th floor. 

Rough estimate of a time line

12:30 - 1:30 Vivarium

1:30 - 2:30 2nd floor

2:30 - 3:30 3rd floor

3:30 - 4:30 4th floor

Remember, these are rough estimates and the times may slide either way slightly.

Please be advised that Facilities Management will be conducting electrical power tests for the elevator system in the building.  The power will not be out of service, but as power is switched to emergency power for the life safety systems there will be a momentary interruption of power.  We believe this will be isolated to facility functions only and not affect equipment plugged into convenience outlets in your space, but we cannot guarantee this as many circuits have been rewired over the years.  We recommend that you check your equipment that day to make sure it is working correctly.  For critical equipment, it is best that it be plugged into a UPS.

The switch over will take place in the ILSB Thursday, 4/30/2020 between 7 am and 4 pm.  The switching test should be completed in about 1 hour, but we will be testing several buildings that day, so an exact time cannot be determined in advance. 

Also that day, Debbie Weininger from Thermo Fisher will be doing the installation of the speed vacs on the second and fourth floors.

The entire building will be without water on march 16th, the Monday of spring break, There will be no water to sinks, bathrooms or steam generators. 

This will be an 8 hour outage roughly from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Please plan around this. 

Beginning tomorrow morning, Whiting Turner and Mahogany Inc will be installing locksets and drawer fronts to drawers and cabinets missing them. Each lock will have two keys associated with them. Please leave both keys in the lock until I can collect the spare from each lock.
