HAPP 403 teaches qualitative field research methods in the context of research across national borders. Students learn methods and do background research through the spring semester and apply their new knowledge on a week-long research trip to Switzerland in June. Application deadline is December 3.

This upper-level elective is good for students in many majors:
pre-med students can make international health-care comparisons,
engineers can examine climate change as it affects glaciers in the Alps, and
all students can have a study abroad experience without giving up a full semester at UMBC.
