The Human Resources Department is currently transitioning the review and approval of Contingent contracts to the HRIS Unit. Our newest staff member, Tria Lee-HR Specialist, will now be the staff member responsible for the review and approval process of Contingent contracts.
Please submit Contingent I contracts (initial and renewals) directly to Tria for review and approval. Tria is located in room 505 of the Human Resources Department and may be reached at extension 5-2286.
Contingent II (Contractual Employees) contracts should continue to be submitted with the PAR form and placed in the Payroll basket.
The Employment Unit will continue to provide consultation on questions for Contingent I and II hires. Please contact Kim Harris or Sandy Vance (ext. 52912) for assistance with questions such as:
- Determining the appropriate type of hire (category of employee status)
- Advertising a Contingent I position (if recruitment is needed)
- Understanding the policies for contingent employment
- Determining the appropriate title
- Determining the appropriate pay rate
Please be sure you are using the most current version of the Contingent I and II contracts. The forms were revised in November 2014. Forms are available at: http://hr.umbc.edu/forms/employment-forms/
Attached is a matrix identifying the standard processes for completing contingent contracts (initial hires and renewals) from Sherrell McNamara. The matrix will serve as a vital resource for processing contingent contracts.
